Made with a bottlecap (plastic type) felt and stuffing! Mine are decorated with embroidery.
Ok, first things first, I'm not much of a drinker. I like a beer on occasion but not usually more than two. I'm a bit of a lightweight in that regard and I'm completely OK with it. That being said, I was eating at a Chinese buffet close to my office (because sushi is part of the buffet) and had a couple of beers. I happened to notice that the logo on the bottle caps had changed and I liked the new design enough to snag them for later. I knew I wanted to do something but I wasn't sure what. I'd been thinking about selective coloring but that just didn't feel right. What I ended up doing was putting these on a table in my bedroom with a desk lamp behind them and prop one on top of the other at an angle in front of a glass mug (that's Diet Coke in the mug, oddly enough). It wasn't the effect I was going for I'm still very happy with how it turned out.
On a side note, I work with a couple of guys who are also into photography, though not so much with the editing. It's really been great because I can show them what I've done and get some great feedback. Anyway, I showed yesterday's HDR image to my boss, the owner of the company, and he loved it. I have to say, that was pretty cool. But then again, I work for some really good people, so it's not hard to believe.
Okay, I didn't take any pictures as I was filling the bottlecaps with resin, cause it's a race against time. But basically how it works is you buy a resin kit (i used envirotex lite) and mix equal parts of resin and hardener. Mix well. I mean really well. Then pour the resin into the bottlecap. Use a heat gun to get rid of any bubbles. Then let them cure for several days in a dust free environment.
After they are hardened, you can hot glue magnets or thumbtacks to the back. I think you could also drill out a hole and attach to a jump ring for a necklace or keychain. But I haven't tried that yet.
