Miss Perspicacity Frost

13 New Victoria Street

New Victoria Township

Kasiopeia Isles

My dear Miss Frost:

As I am sure you are aware, my arrival in town has been delayed. I owe you an explanation, and I would beg a favor of you, should you determine that our interests align in this matter.

I was enticed to emigrate to the Kasiopeia Isles by my research partner, Dr. Alphonse Moreau, late of the University of Ingolstadt. He has - or perhaps “had” would be more accurate – a research site in one of the Isles where he observes experimental subjects in the wild. He told me that he had obtained substantial funding, enough for a large institute, and that the Township would be an ideal location, scientifically inclined and far from the sort of busybodies who plague those working on the frontiers of knowledge.

Unfortunately, at my stopover in Hong Kong I received word that the “funding” was the anticipated payout from investment in a silver mine in Ecuador, which turned out to be entirely fraudulent. Worse, he had fallen afoul of the British authorities in Australia, and will be serving twenty to fifty years of hard labour for various *entirely misunderstood* experiments in applied biological sciences (and, I ask you, how could one of the charges be “cruelty to animals” if the creatures in question were the result of crossbreeding with humans? The law truly *is* an ass!)

Thus, I find myself the owner of a rather large building in your town, but otherwise quite destitute.

What I would propose is that I donate the building to the Frost Academy for use as classrooms and laboratories, and that in return you hire me on as an instructor in the Extraordinary Sciences. Perhaps, if it is not a step too bold, Head of Department? I would dedicate myself quite eagerly to your students, maintaining only a small (and entirely underfunded!) research agenda of my own.

With a small advance on my pay, I would be able to purchase a ticket for the last leg of my trip, and would be able to join you well before the start of your new term.

Throwing myself upon your mercy,

I am,

Yours,

Doctor Fausta Essex

P.S. I don’t know if my erstwhile partner informed anyone, but he has shipped a few cadavers to our premises, for anatomical research purposes. So long as they remain chilled, they should be no bother to anyone in town.

I had decided not to bother travelling for a drake Common Scoter in Leeds as I had already taken reasonable photos of some on a reservoir close to home this year. But my friend Ron told me that the bird in Roundhay Park was showing ridiculously well, and it had been present since 7 August. When I heard it was still present this morning I drove to Leeds and was delighted to have this bird at times down to less than 10m. I almost had my elbows submerged to take this low-level shot. Outside of the breeding season they feed almost entirely on Shellfish (bivalve molluscs) and I'd assumed this bird would be feeding on freshwater swan mussels. But each time I saw it emerge it only ever had aquatic plant material. They do feed on plants but it can't be very nutritious to get this bird back in the air to reach its offshore wintering grounds. I have seen very many Common Scoters and they are usually among the most skittish and wary of ducks. But this bird was unusually confiding and I doubt I will get a photo-opportunity as good as this for a while.

After spending the night in Alexandria enjoying dinner and drinks with a good friend we headed out Friday morning only 15 min from his home for a wildly productive morning of photographing 12 different trains in the span of only three hours (plus a couple we didn't bother with because it was raining so hard when we first showed up).

With the world renowned Sakura (cherry blossoms) at peak there was only one place to go to photograph some trains. Few places in the district are more iconic for rail photography than the short bridge over the Washington Channel flowing from the Tidal Basin as seen from East Potomac Park.

The rear end DP unit on hot daily Jacksonville, FL to North Bergen, NJ train I032 at is about MP CFP 111.3 on modern day CSXT's RF&P Subdivision. These rails leading to the Long Bridge over the Potomac River (out of sight to the left) are ex Pennsylvania Railroad and a few catenary poles remain as seen in this shot from the days when long freights behind electric motors headed for classification at the mighty and long gone Potomac Yard.

Something about the night seems to be bothering her.

Pentax KX.

Why bother I wonder shooting film when becomes a digital jpeg after all?

The prints are so much better than the CD scans. Keepers are few, and gems fewer even with prints.

Just must, I suppose.

For those of u who dont know wat's going on .. Read the words first :)

If u have something nice to say then comment .. if not .. then plz dont bother :)

And you

Bring me to my knees

Again

All the times

That I could beg you please

In vain

All the times

That I felt insecure

For you

But I leave

My burdens at the door

But I'm on the outside

And I'm looking in

I can see through you

See your true colors

'Cause inside your ugly

Your ugly like me

I can see through you

See to the real you

All the times

That I felt like this won't end

Was for you

And I taste

What I could never have

It's from you

All the times

That I've tried

My intentions

Full of pride

But I waste

More time than anyone

But I'm on the outside

And I'm looking in

I can see through you

See your true colors

'Cause inside your ugly

Your ugly like me

I can see through you

See to the real you

All the times

That I've cried

All this wasted

It's all inside

And I feel

All this pain

Stuffed it down

It's back again

And I lie

Here in bed

All alone

I can't mend

But I feel

Tomorrow will be OK

But I'm on the outside

And I'm looking in

I can see through you

See your true colors

'Cause inside your ugly

Your ugly like me

I can see through you

See to the real you

Bothering the town's car drivers...

for Macro Mondays. I have never bothered with valentines, Feb 14th for me is my grandma's birthday. Very small crystal heart from an earring, about the size of my little fingernail.

Don't bother hitching up to this rotting and rusting old wagon. It has seen better days, but still looks great. No HDR was used in the making of this image.

Montana

I think that our time at this location I have taken more useable, but distinct images than any other location. Plus an IR camera and a color camera doubled the take. Of course the ever changing weather was extraordinary that day. Makes me wonder if Montana is almost always like that or we were just lucky.

Must view on black.

bored bothered bruised burdened

Just got back from a long weekend in North Wales, took lots of images that need sorting through but the sunrise on Monday morning at Llyn Padarn was just breathtaking, perefct reflection too and a bit of mistto boot.

I visited a few very well known spots including this one, it doesn't bother me one bit taking well known images, they're my own renditions and its kinda nice knowing a lot of very good photographers have visited these locations :)

Wildlife viewing @ Kukak Bay, Katmai NP, Alaska

My first barred owl shot in ages! Been over a year. So awesome to see owls during the day. Be very cautious in these situations, it is very important not to bother them!

When the owl prepares to concentrate on hunting, we should keep it farther away to avoid disturbing.

...and sometimes there is another photographer behind that one! I love to see people taking pictures. This one is from deep in the archives. I came across it and the noise/graininess that made me reject it before did not really bother me at all.

Does this weather bother you? I know it’s gloomy and grey most of the time now but I love going out during night and blue hour while the weather is like this. Wet and hazy weather introduce some new opportunities. This is one image that represents the time we now live in, in more than one way. What do you think?

Three bothers playing soccer in the streets of Antananarivo, Madagascar, with a self made ball, next to their little house right in the street and the small shop from their parents. An image of the city: colourful, people who are inventive and who make the best of what the surroundings offer.

Scarlet tiger moth looking resplendent, and so colourful even viewed from beneath.

These insects are brightly coloured to show predators they are poisonous, or very disgusting to eat, once a bird for instance tried one it certainly wouldn't bother again that's for sure, so they don't need to camouflage themselves and therefore free to look fabulous with beautiful colourful wings etc.

What a beautifully patterned little insect, and when it flies .... "Oh' it's a wonderful sight to witness .... flashes of delightful redness .... Made my day being able to photograph this wonderful insect .... 😁

Why not expand this image and take a closer look at it's interesting face etc.

Oh' it might not be such a good idea, it's a little bit frightening actually. 😂😹😅😵

Love & Peace everyone!

Please stay safe in these

worrying times. 😊

A quick collaboration with Phill Fisher this evening on his grand pilgrimage of the Cistercian Abbeys in the north of England. Despite living only 10 miles away from Roche Abbey, I can't believe I never bothered to light paint this place!

sleepy barred-owl, like a giant ciccada. Probably hungry, so not bothering to waste much energy evading us.

I never bothered to process this Golden Hour image because, at the time, I chose to showcase the dusk image I took half an hour later.

This was taken in March 2020, when everywhere in central Edinburgh was eerily empty. The clouds towards the south were looming but the sunset facing the opposite way was on fire - I managed to get a shot of it down Shandwick Place. You can find it if you go back far enough in my feed. Can't believe I've sat on this for five years.

Anyway, here it is; two horizontal frames stitched together using:

I've been a little bit bothered lately about some of the stuff going on around Flickr. I haven't been Flickring, and I'm not sure if I will be Flickring much. I've had some guys faving my kid pics that have no pics available to view. If you can see this, it means that I trust you and I will probably be setting all of my pics for friends and family only. I used to enjoy the challenge of getting my pics in explore, but now, I feel that I have a big enough group of friends that most of my shots will not be public. I thank you all for stopping by when I wasn't around. I got a new laptop, so now maybe (hopefully) it will be easier for me to come see you. Thanks again and take good care everybody. ;)

Please don't bother me. I'm resting.

Why bother with a title or a photo description when only a very few people will click on the image with the new format?

The flickr layout continues to suck. Sorry about the lack of comments, on the "bright" side you can just fave the damned thing and walk away without opening it, this is becoming a site designed for a 13 year old child's attention span.

Pity I was too lazy to bother with the camera! Next time…

"We managed to slip past a couple of raiding groups yesterday. They seem to be multiplying. Luckily we managed to get to one of the maintenance ladders for the upper city. They are always guarded so the raiders shouldn't bother us here. But we may have some issues with the people of the upper city they have a tendency to deal harshly with people like us. And they wonder why we call this place Coin city, two side of the coin."
