I know I have been bothering you with a lot of color lately and I promise that this is going to end soon. But even though I think this image here could be converted to b&w successfully, I just couldn't ignore the beauty of the complementary colors here.

I don't think this little wren enjoyed me interrupting his song, but I was glad to find him - and thought the contrast with the berries behind gave things a very "holiday-like" feel...
not only by the alarm clock ... ;-)
Happy Monday!

Part of getting through life is accepting, and dealing with, our weaknesses. Which doesn't mean they aren't still a pain in the butt.
Me, I'm over-sensitive to all kinds of sensory input - and input affecting my sensors. For instance, even in August in our constant ocean breezes, I daren't go outside without my ears covered.
This is, of course, a huuuge pain. When everyone else is out in shorts and bathing suits, I'm sweating with a big fleecy band around my head. It sucks, but the alternative (excruciating ear aches) sucks a whole lot worse.
I'm also overly sensitive to noise. And bright light. Especially bright flashing light that hits my eyes unexpectedly. So... imagine how much fun I am as a companion at a rawk show. Normally I take along ear plugs. Last night I forgot.
I guess I was lulled into complacency by the fact that the show was at a theatre. A play house. A place I last attended in my teens, when I saw some Shakespearean production there. So yeah... I went in plugless. And immediately regretted it. Still... I was up for enjoying myself... until the %$(*&$%(&ing light show started.
I can't imagine whose idea it was to flash big spotlights directly into the audience's eyes repeatedly throughout the night. Probably the same wise person who decided a super-bright sign behind the band... illuminated by 10,000 1,000 watt bulbs... was also a very good thing to flash repeatedly in the audience's eyes.
What really amazed me was that no one else seemed bothered. Whereas I was in several sorts of agony all night.
The bright flashing lights. Fuck, man. I thought I was gonna have a seizure or something. I ended up spending most of the night doubled over with my head in my lap, eyes closed, hands clamped over my face. Every time I tried to enjoy actually watching the band... zappo! Unexpected blasts of super-bright white light set off pinball explosions in my brain.
So today is pretty much a write-off. Migraine city, man.
And I HATE HATE HATE that my body is so delicate.
I'm from sturdy peasant stock. Why am I so fragile? Why do things that normal people take in stride disable me?
Sorry for the whining self-pity. Kee-rist. At least I know, without a doubt, that I am now too old for rawk shows. Goodbye youth. Your time has come and gone. From now on I'll just satisfy myself by listening to records at home.
I could hardly contain my excitement to be able to photograph this Merlin in my yard and on my perch! The conditions were less than ideal - poor light, snow and through a window but I am more than thrilled! She was being bothered by magpies in this photo. Taken in my yard in Calgary, Alberta.
Wow I would never have guessed a Merlin! Thank you to Monte and Sunny for the ID correction! Confirmed as female.
A little diversion from Costa Rica.
Thank you for your visit and comments. They are very much appreciated.

Cautious, but not that bothered sheep eyeing us on the way up the Torr Head. I deliberately used the title of a Cranberries song - a band that has "Ireland" written all over it :) :) :)
Torr Head, a slight detour on the Causeway Coastal Route is the closest point between Scotland and Ireland and offers spectacular views of Mull of Kintyre.

Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos)Mrs Mallard was being pursued by two drakes - she strutted her stuff for quite a few minutes in front of them. She didn't seem bothered by the cloud of midges either!

Winskill Photographer. Or is that the other way round? 😆 No idea why, but I decided to "nip" to Winskill after my day on the Howgill Fells. The light lasted for about 3 minutes after I arrived, hence the obvious and rather rushed composition!
In other news, I'm still breathing after my phone call with my MP. And I must say, it was very interesting! We even agreed about a few things. Imagine me agreeing with a Tory? 😂
I stopped to take a few pics of the beach and surrounding area, and saw this seagull just standing by... He didn't seem to be bothered by people in the least! How funny! I guess that tends to be the way they are though. Hope you enjoy!

"don't bother so much on how different the world is outside your comfy area couse the world is that way"

I've been "accused" that I do repost my images (I'm doing that a bit lately) to gain more visibility and to have more chance to get explore (that is wrong, reposted images will never do explore). What's wrong to get more visibility? There is a debate with the person (in italian language) on my last post and I'm asking back the lady if she do follow all here contacts (4510) and if not what is the purpuse to have so many contacts (wanted here to ask herself what is the right way)? She answered it was her business and I answered back it's my business how I interact here on flickr (afterwad I've been blocked from her flickr site and the debate which I also posted on one of her picture got delated).
The world is big and various and let's all have respect on how other people behave as long we all follow the rules and are respectful.
I've seen the attitude from many that are using the "block" button very easily giving more time to block other who put only a fav and not a comment (for example) then to follow their contact uploads.
What I want to say: lets just relax and respect others. There is a saying in Italy "Fatti gli affari tuoi e campi 100 anni" which means "mind your own business and you'll live 100 years"
And that's it. Hey folks just don't bother so much on how different the world is outside your comfy area couse the world is that way. If we all bother less there wouldn't be so many wars outside there.

♫ Chris Brown - Under The Influence ♫
I can make it hurricane on it
Hunnid bands, make it rain on it
Tie it up, put a chain on it
Make you tattoo my name on it, oh
Make you cry like a baby, yeah
Let's Go Pro and make a video, yeah
Make you cry like a baby, yeah
Let's Go Pro and make a video
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah
Baby, you can
Ride it, ooh yeah
Bring it over to my place
And you be like
"Baby, who cares?"
But I know you care
Bring it over to my place
You don't know what you did, did to me
Your body lightweight, speaks to me
I don't know what you did, did to me
Your body lightweight, speaks to me
Oh bother, more daffodils!
Our daffodils are sprouting out of the ground and it is raining. The birds are so happy!
Take good care my friends, I have to go and chase turkeys :(
Don't go crossing my path
I don't bother chasing mice around
I slink down the alleyway looking for a fight
Howling to the moonlight on a hot summer night
Singin' the blues while the lady cats cry
"Wild stray cat, you're a real gone guy"
I wish I could be as carefree and wild
But I got cat class and I got cat style

They are normally quite easily spooked, but this one didn't seem that bothered by me at all! Manningtree estuary.
An Osprey mom and her hungry chicks are waiting for dad to bring a fish for dinner, which happens about a minute later. Taken on the Rappahannock River in Urbanna, Virginia.
[Note: I am careful not to bother the nest. Taken from a public park using a long lens.]
You know, sometimes it bothers me that Q comes before S. I feel like this is something I only think when I am incredibly sleep deprived, like I am right now.
Check out Remnant when you get a chance! There's a lot of great post-apoc themed items at the shopping event, including this cross prop pictured here from Disorderly! Comes in three different styles with lots of pose variations! This is not to theme, but they still look really great. I'm sure there are still cards after the Reckoning, or something. You won't have TV, probably, what else are you gonna do?
Trunk Show is still kicking around until the 18th, and you can get this fab updo from Exile if you're so inclined!
There's a limited group gift over at Zibska that you can grab now, too! Plus, a nice soft-coloured makeup set coming to Blush!
Rides over on my blog!

Thank you, Lynne, for this adorable Holiday set...with the elf hat! Hat and dress from Dollicious.
I will show the full set tomorrow...didn't like the browns in the tree from the shots today! haha...uploaded a picture...then deleted it! Too many browns and not enough sunlight bothered me! :D
Vasya is unhappy that I am photographing him.
Thank you all for visits, favs and comments, it's greatly appreciated!
I don't often bother with herons, there is a heronry in my local park at Wollaton, I see them there on my regular walks, so I tend to take them for granted, but this caught my eye as it flew across in front of the autumnal vegetation. That and the rather Jurassic appearance of the bird in this shot!
Thank you for your faves and comments, much appreciated
I'll be photographing new insects any day now, and I only got the chance to show a fraction of last year's finds, but here's a beautiful blood bee being bothered by a bombing hover fly as it drank nectar from an awl aster last fall. Blood bees have bright red abdomens, but they do not drink blood! In fact they are sweat bees, and might like to lick the sweat off your skin. Females are not so nice though, since they break into the subterranean nest burrows of other kinds of sweat bees and neutralize their eggs. A female blood bee then lays her egg on the big pollen ball left as a larval food supply so her larva doesn't have any competition as it feeds and completes development at the target bee's expense - a reproductive strategy called cleptoparastism.

from best to worst. or worst to best, depending on my mood.
These flies were very annoying and would bother us when they didn't have birds to bother. I guess these birds don’t have too many feathers on top of their head so it’s easier for the flies to bite them. Jabiru taken in North Pantanal, Brazil.
Thank you for your visit and comments. They are very much appreciated.
You like attention, I find it obvious.
