I decided to spend some time tidying up my archived images and have decided that one or two are worth keeping and editing. This is one such photograph that I took in September 2018 and never bothered to do anything with. It's taken at a local reservoir so no hide used. Most of my snipe images are on nature reserves with advantage of a hide. Scout Dike Reservoir, South Yorkshire.

Monte Moregallo. Italy
The twin mountain peaks named Grignetta, 7,145ft, on the right, and Grignone, 8,070ft, from the summit of Monte Moregallo, 4,195ft.
When I climbed Monte Moregallo, three weeks ago, then I realized that this was the last year for me under these mountains. My company is going to move the facilities to another place. So I planned to climb other three summits above the city of Lecco in three weeks, Resegone, Monte due Mani and, last but not the least, Grignetta. Today I closed the loop and I climbed Grignetta when the work was over. I will bother you with some shot from the summit of this baby, but not tonight. Tonight the memories are just for me.

Don't bother with an umbrella or a hat if you're passing by the west coast of Phuket during the rainy season it'll end up in the trees and on a day like today you'll probably end up in the trees with it!
Goodness what the life guards thought of me when I took this, there was a point when I was almost dragged out, it was the weirdest sensation having the sand removed from beneath my feet and feeling my legs being wrenched forwards. I'm not someone that goes around wearing shorts either and my jeans were soaked up to the waist.
The waves in this image are actually mild compared to how they eventually became but the wind and rain was just too strong to point my lens into.. I would rather not destroy the very thing that keeps me sane! Still, I'm quite happy with this image particularly after my disappointment in trying to capture a similar image last weekend, rattling off 100s of images and not achieving a single decent shot.. which is why I had the blues! So, I wasn't about to give up so easily this weekend.
Thank you for passing by :)

Don't bother.... I'm here.
Bumbo the Clown left me a Facebook message... with a picture of this clown record that he left at the slaughterhouse, that said.... "I was looking for you." Seriously... I'm there a LOT... but I don't LIVE there. I had, however been there the previous day and again that same morning before work. And I left my lens cap there. So I went back there again after work, and claimed the "bumbo" ... the last one I found melted in my car. And I found my lens cap too. I was actually very brave that afternoon. There was a truck parked there, and usually when I see another vehicle there, I don't stop. I'm kind of afraid at what I might run into ... but this time, I wanted to find my lens cap... so I figured I'd go in anyway. I met a guy with his dog, looking for the trailhead. We talked for a few minutes, the whole time he was brushing ticks off of himself (can't even imagine how many were on the poor dog!). I had no idea how the trail connected with the one he was looking for, and he was pretty disgusted with the tick activity, so he gave up and left... which allowed me to set up and take this photo in peace... so that Bumbo would know that I had claimed the record.
This gruff looking male Warthog didn’t seem bothered at all by the Yellow-billed Oxpecker on its back. These Oxpeckers were commonly seen on the large herbivores, but this was the first I noticed on a Warthog. They eat bugs and ticks off their host, as well as blood from wounds. Warthogs are relatively shy and will run from vehicles, unlike most of the safari animals which treat vehicles as part of their natural environment, which from their experience is true. This Warthog, fortunately, allowed me to walk relatively close to get this shot. I've been working on getting this multiple image panorama right for some time and finally feel that it works now. I wouldn't normally bother with images in such contrasting light but I still really love this one. Neist Point on the Isle of Skye, Scotland.

I really thought they'd not bother to repair this again but I was wrong. Work started this week.
White stands for the proposed borders of an excavation. When crews need to mark the limits of the excavation needed for a basement, or even just a trench, they mark the outlines in white paint. This is usually the first step before any underground infrastructure is precisely located. It shows where the digging will occur.
Orange chalk indicates communications. This could include cable TV, phone systems, alarm wiring, fiber optics, or conduits intended to carry signals rather than power. With our modern reliance on telecommunications, it’s wise to be careful when digging around orange markings.
Blue chalk s the color of water, thus it makes sense that blue markings indicate the presence of water lines. Though not as potentially disastrous as a gas or power line, hitting a water pipe or main would have some pretty severe consequences on a project and surrounding residents. Take care around water, despite the peaceful, blue color.
Yellow means natural gas, petroleum, or steam. It’s the color for urgency and caution. Anyone who’s tapped into a gas line and lived to tell the tale knows the value of accurate markings for gas lines. Oil and steam can be almost as problematic. Take care when you see yellow markings.

Why bother replacing a fence if you can just add a few new posts? This photo was taken last November before the first snowstorm. HFF

another quick and superfluous photo. this one looks particularly moody even though i'm in good spirits, save for the anxiety of moving. two weeks to the day. eek!
so yes. before you say i look sad, remember... i'm not. just couldn't be bothered for a selfie today. also, i'm sleepy... though you may question that one, given my posting at 3:30am ;)
This little bear-with-books figurine is 1 inch wide by 1 inch tall (2.5cm). I set it behind the thumb ring of a candle holder. Last week, I took photos of a stuffed animal bear's nose for this theme, but today I saw a lot of very cute, well done bear noses in the group. Figured I should try something different. I desaturated it in iMac photo.
This is a location in my home state I've long meant to photograph but had never bothered to try until this day.
Amtrak's ex New Haven Railroad Northeast Corridor mainline slicing through the 'wilds' of rural South County (not an actual county just a colloquial name for this part of the state) is some of the fastest track on their system and also relatively inaccessible an unphotogenic. However the surrounding villages have wonderful charm and I have countless memories cycling the surrounding roads with my Dad and canoeing the Pawcatuck including one humorous episode where we got interesting looks from the employees of the Kenyons Mill in the background when we paddled right through the middle of their factory one day!
As for the factory, it is why I've long wanted to try a shot here. Built in 1844, the mill first produced wool and cotton, and is one of the few historic textile mills in Rhode Island that continues to operate. The facility, which employs about 300 people, currently manufactures, dyes, and finishes fabrics and is owned by Brookwood Industries. brookwoodcompanies.com/finishing/
Amtrak Boston to Washington Acela train 2169 is rifling down Main 1 at about MP 153.9. They are between the Kenyon School Road and Shannock Road overpasses and have just crossed the Pawcatuck River from the town of Richmond into Charlestown. Alas excepting the occasional work train and the very very rare detouring freight moves the only thing you can photograph here are Acelas and ACS64s....which truly is a shame because wouldn't a big freight just look fabulous!?

I finally figured out what bothered me about the operators I've made in the past. No camo on helmets or vests. It just didn't flow without it. So I painted some helmets and vests, and here we are, something I can finally be satisfied with
You might wonder (I did) why the Loggerhead Shrike would bother to impale such a small morsel rather than just swallow it on the fly. It turns out the bird apparently had to disgorge a large hairball of undigested parts to make room for the next victim. On a dagger plant along Old Port Isabel Road, Brownsville, Texas. Tomorrow, the hairball.
From the bottom of my heart I wish you all a Merry and Wonderful Christmas ♥♥♥.

" And I don't want you and I don't need you
Don't bother to resist, or I'll beat you
It's not your fault that you're always wrong
The weak ones are there to justify the strong
The beautiful people, the beautiful people
It's all relative to the size of your steeple
You can't see the forest for the trees
And you can't smell your own shit on your knees
Hey, you, what do you see?
Something beautiful or something free?
Hey, you, are you trying to be mean?
If you live with apes, man, it's hard to be clean
I just want you for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
All I want for Christmas is you
The beautiful people, the beautiful people
The beautiful people
Hey, you, what do you see?
Something beautiful or something free?
Hey, you, are you trying to be mean?
If you live with apes, man, it's hard to be clean
'Cause I just want you here tonight
Holding on to me so tight
What more can I do?
Oh baby, all I want for Christmas is you
The beautiful people, the beautiful people
The beautiful people
The worms will live in every host
It's hard to pick which one they hate the most
The horrible people, the horrible people
It's all anatomic as the size of your steeple
Capitalism has made it this way
Old-fashioned fascism will take it away
Hey, you, what do you see?
Something beautiful or something free?
Hey, you, are you trying to be mean?
If you live with apes, man, it's hard to be clean
Oh, I just want you for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
Oh baby, all I want for Christmas is you
The beautiful people, the beautiful people
The beautiful people
Baby, all I want for Christmas is you, baby…
The beautiful people, the beautiful people… "

I had decided not to bother travelling for a drake Common Scoter in Leeds as I had already taken reasonable photos of some on a reservoir close to home this year. But my friend Ron told me that the bird in Roundhay Park was showing ridiculously well, and it had been present since 7 August. When I heard it was still present this morning I drove to Leeds and was delighted to have this bird at times down to less than 10m. I almost had my elbows submerged to take this low-level shot. Outside of the breeding season they feed almost entirely on Shellfish (bivalve molluscs) and I'd assumed this bird would be feeding on freshwater swan mussels. But each time I saw it emerge it only ever had aquatic plant material. They do feed on plants but it can't be very nutritious to get this bird back in the air to reach its offshore wintering grounds. I have seen very many Common Scoters and they are usually among the most skittish and wary of ducks. But this bird was unusually confiding and I doubt I will get a photo-opportunity as good as this for a while.
