Did you know? Most aurora borealis occur between 90 and 130 km above our heads. The Northern and Southern Lights dance simultaneously and are almost mirror images of each other.
The way the aurora works is a lot like a neon sign, except that in the aurora, the conducting gas is in the upper layer of the atmosphere, instead of a glass tube, and the current circulates along magnetic field lines instead of copper wires.

Is this the most boring photo I have ever posted? Perhaps yes....but there is something I don't hate about it.
For every 10 black capped there was one boreal at certain times of the year there pretty common up there taken at my sisters cottage in northern Ontario This one was in a small snow storm winter is still very much happening up there yet

Pas drôle de rester enfermée pour éviter la chaleur. Demain sera plus frais. J'aurai droit à une longue promenade.
It isn't funny to stay indoors to avoid the heat. Tomorrow will be cooler so I'll have a long walk again. Fingers crossed.

I visited the Weaselhead Park in hopes of finding at least one of two special owls that had been reported in the park. Lots of walking on icy paths. I was thrilled to see this Boreal Owl as I was on my way back to the parking lot! I was never close to it and left after I got my photos.
Thanks for your visits and comments. They are all greatly appreciated!
Yes...another shot from Tim with 3 Objects in it...Boring yet?
After a 10:30pm check of the weather last night and seeing it wasn't going to rain, I made the call (to myself of course) to go out and see what was going on. Wasn't as good as I had hoped for but still a pleasant morning to be out....but then again...when isnt it.
A single exposure using a Cokin GND8. That pool on the left is the Pool at Newport on Sydneys north shore.

This might be a Hudsonian Whiteface but I am not seeing the abdominal segments well enough to know with certainty.

A boreal owl with striking yellow eyes is perched on a lichen-covered branch. The background is a blurred mix of branches and foliage, creating a natural setting!!!
The Severn Bore is a tidal bore seen on the tidal reaches of the River Severn in England. The Severn Estuary, which empties into the Bristol Channel, has the second largest tidal range in the world — about 49 feet (15 m), exceeded only by the Bay of Fundy. The largest bores occur in spring but smaller ones can be seen throughout the year.
The bores are ranked 1 to 5*. This one was a 5*.
