The old steamer (1960, diesel powered since 70's) from the other side: www.flickr.com/photos/pjotr_i/5129274232/in/photostream/. Waiting at Aurajoki River for the new use as a hotel and a restaurant.
So yesterday evening we had ourselves a nice little snowfall in Eastern Illinois, a good 3.5 inches or so of granular and wet accumulation of both that snow as well as sleet/freezing rain mixing in.
I am a little antsy and ready for spring to get here, as this trend of cloudy days and cold winds become quite tiring after a few months. :)
What you see in this photo here is simply about an inch's worth of snow perfectly piled up on our patio table on the south side of the house. To measure the snow all we have to do is stick a ruler in the snowpack and bam, there's your precise snowfall total. Thanks to this snowfall evening and all-day college classes were cancelled last night and today, thus happy students are at home keeping warm. :)
Happy Friday!
Boring Old Bedroom? Change Your Bedroom Decor Today!
If you are going to refurnish a bed room, you will certainly need to develop a design that you like first. This will allow you to make certain that everything goes together, as well as that it does not appear like everybody else’s...

This guy is hanging out along with the Saw-Whets and a few others. This one was pretty lazy and didn't pay any attention to us. He was perched no higher than 12-15 feet, just high enough to be safe from humans. There is also a Barred Owl hanging around the woods too and they are often inclined to kill other owls. Nature is sometimes a little unfair by our standards.
Kailash was lying on this stone, looking bored. But since I liked her position, I decided to share this picture!
This is what happens when I can't get started on a project...I end up building fun structures with the magnets and whatever I can find on my desk in my studio.

I'm bored and procrastinating this afternoon, I'm also a huge fan of the deftones and bored is one of my favourite tracks.

I keep trying to try shots with water and a pellet and here is why I don't think I will ever get a good shot.
The beautiful water patterns of falling water become a blast of mist when the pellet hits. The water is milliseconds and the the pellet is microseconds.
There were some beautiful photos published recently where the target was a water drop. I liked the photos a lot, but saw that the pellet had to be going much slower than a "typical" pellet. When I contacted the photographer, he verified that the pellet was about 100fps rather than this pellet which is going at about 800fps.
I will keep playing with the idea, but am dubious that I can get it to work.
Day 295 - called into school to sub today. It is a gorgeous fall day. Things have been so yucky for me inside that I was doubtfull I could slide into my cheery teacher persona. The kids changed my mind. I was sitting outside on the playground bored when some of my favorite students ran up and wanted thier photos taken. I love these kids and Im so thankful for my teacher's pets.

I took this shot almost five years ago and posted a very cropped version almost four years ago - my, how time flies : )! We found this tiny Boreal Chorus Frog down at Frank Lake, south of the city, and a friend, Tanya B, held it up for a quick photo. Wanted to post the barely-cropped version.
