What a sinister look from this reclusive owl. I love the dark, edging around the face along with the whitish silvery flecks. It's amazing how they blend in with the sub alpine firs.
Always fun to see and photograph, this little owl was hanging out in a couple St. John's yards on February 6, 2014.

Emily dreadfully watches as Mr. Ara does a quick tutorial on her iMac, too bad she's too bored to pay attention ever!
This could also be the reason why she never brought the girl scout cookies she promised...
I was at the local farmer's market in Murffresboro,TN when I saw this girl sitting on a case of tomatoes waiting for her mother to finish talking to a friend, I was only able to get two quick shots before she noticed me taking her pictiure. Poor thing looks almost bored to tears.

The Boreal toad tadpoles in this video are a deep black, asphalt color to absorb as much heat from the sun in order to thermoregulate in cold, snowmelt-fed alpine ponds and streams.
Later, a researcher with the Colorado Division of Wildlife handles an adult Boreal toad captured near the same site, an unnamed creek on the Arapaho & Roosevelt National Forests in Colorado. The researcher illustrates the proper handling technique and the peach-colored dorsal stripe of the toad.
