At Big Bend National Park, Mexican Nationals cross the Rio Grande River to place trinkets and walking sticks along trails for hikers to purchase. Posted at trailheads are signs warning that to purchase such items is illegal and anything can be confiscated and fines imposed. But, the simple notes taped to collection jars asking for financial support are hard to ignore as one looks across the river into Mexico. As we stood overlooking the Rio Grande River, the owner of this boat waived and said hello...I put what little money I had in my pocket in a jar. I thought it interesting that a Mexican National would risk crossing the river into the United States to collect his money, that signs were posted telling us it was illegal to purchase things, but the jars full of money left sitting on rocks were protected by an unspoken honor code. Amazing really!

Borders Buses expects three of these ADL Enviro's for the X62 service, and they are expected to be to a very high spec, and even include bike racks. This was the original mock-up and looks really smart.

A collection of borders for use in your art.
I created most of these borders using clipart, found images and scans of funky fabric. The purple torn paper border comes from a digital collage pack , and the newsprint text next to the dominoes comes from a freebie collage sheet. I will post credits for those as soon as I rummage through my virtual stash.
I would love to see what you make using these!
The special that headed down the Borders Line with the Deltic, is seen returning north behind DB Red 67015 with D9009 on the rear. This is 1Z55 from Tweedbank to Edinburgh Waverley, and is seen passing Hangingshaw Farm, just south of Heriot. The tour returned down the ECML to Derby with the Deltic leading.

SK19ELW is an ADL Enviro E40D H76F purchased new by Borders Buses in April 2019, and seen in Peebles. The Old Parish Church at the end of the High Street is the impressive building in the background.
The church was constructed between 1885 and 1887 at a cost of £9,500. It includes some features from an earlier parish church built on the site in 1784. The architect was William Young of London who designed the church in a Gothic style.

2nd one from a visit to Smailholm Tower, Scottish Borders, a few weeks ago. Waited for a gap in the heavy clouds to allow the sun to light up the tower.

I captured this shot whilst walking across the top of the Bridge on my way back to my car. I thought that a view from on top of this bridge would give a different perspective on the river for a change instead of always looking from the river banks

Just one of many herbaceous borders at Colclough Walled Garden, Co. Wexford. Full of sedum "Autumn Joy", Verbenas, Hollyhocks & Michaelmas Daisies. Taken back in September. I can see me spending a lot of time at this beautifully restored Victorian walled garden next year. Happy Wall Wednesday!
Abbotsford is the house built and lived in by Sir Walter Scott, the 19th century novelist, and author of timeless classics such as Waverley, Rob Roy, Ivanhoe and The Lady of the Lake. In 1811 Sir Walter bought the property which was to become Abbotsford, set in the heart of the Scottish Borders, on the banks of the River Tweed. The building of Abbotsford took six years, and was completed in 1824. William Atkinson was the chosen architect, and George Bulloch gave his advice on the furnishings, while local craftsmen carried out the work. The house was opened to the public in 1833, five months after Sir Walter's death, and has been enjoyed by visitors ever since.
