Macro Mondays - B&W

Happy Macro Monday everyone.

Still life photo of purple flowers marking a spot in an old book.

I’ll use anything as a bookmark. Grocery receipts are common as are candy wrappers if they’re not sticky. And as I’ve depicted here a dollar bill on occasion. This results in me finding one now and then when I pick up a book I’ve let set for a while. It’s like finding a tiny treasure. Thanks to everyone that stopped by to look, like, and comment pro or con. HMM!

Macro Mondays

The classic bookmark contains a particularly flat and light paper pen with a blue ballpoint pen.

The Jerusalem Bible illustrated by Salvador Dali has two ribbon markers which were originally red, but the end bits, that have been hanging out since 1955, have faded to yellow.

Recently someone informed me that ribbon markers can now be sourced only in China, which surprised me, but searching for them online I can only find references to Chinese suppliers.

This is for Macro Mondays, theme Ribbon. I waited a long time for some sunlight and only had about 10 minutes of it during the whole week.

The yellow ribbon in the foreground measures 4cm from fringe to the kink on the right.

Looking close...on Friday!

One of only two bookmarks that we have.

Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites.

Macro Mondays 'bookmark' theme.

A little bookmark made from an old coin. I nearly ordered a new bookmark for this as I couldn't find the one I wanted to use but as it might not have arrived in time I went with one of those I could find!

The image measures a fraction under the 3 inch limit.

Fortunately I don't have either of the phobias represented in this image, bibliophobia (fear of books) and cuprolaminophobia (fear of coins).

für Looking close on Friday 22.9.

Looking Close... on Friday: Black

This is the first page of a classic French ballet novel, which was turned into a TV series in the 1950s. The book is called "La porte interdite" (The Forbidden Door) and the series was titled "L'âge heureux". Lots of ballet lovers still dream of little ballerinas in white tutus playing on the Opera roof in the Paris night.

I must confess that I was the one who colored the leotards of the little dancers in the illustration, many years ago, during one of my many readings of the book.

Die Natur! Der Mensch ist frei! In dem Menschen verklärt sich die Individualität zur Freiheit!

(G. Buchner)

Old encyclopedia ( 1917) with an old ribbon bookmark.

A little under 4cm.

I really struggled with this theme, I took a LOT of photo's !

Happy Macro Monday.
