My friend's Leonberger puppy who is just 12 months. Bones was walking him around on his lead. It was very cute.
what to do when you’re in love with someone:
- dig a grave
- lie down in it
- get comfortable in the dirt
- die
If you register online (http://www.marrow.org), they'll send you a buccal swab kit and you get to take your own samples. I pretended to be a CSI, collecting evidence (on myself). :)
The Bone Caves are a series of natural caves set into a high limestone cliff called Creag nan Uamh (Crag of the Caves). The caves are named for the large numbers of animal bones found during excavations.
There are four main cave openings in the cliffs, formed before the last ice age by water dissolving limestone in cracks in the surrounding rock. Subsequent glacial action and erosion of the glen by water left the caves hundreds of feet above the valley floor.
There is no indication that the caves were ever used as human habitat, but two separate human burials have been discovered within the caves.
In total, over 1000 pieces of reindeer antler have been found in the Bone Caves, with dates ranging from 47,000 to 8,300 years ago.
One rare find was the skull of a Northern lynx, dated to 1,770 years ago. This is the only Northern lynx ever found in Scotland. Other intriguing remains include a possible polar bear, arctic fox, wolf, and brown bear.
Finds from the caves are kept at the Royal Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh. (Above Information Off Google)
Dinosaur Bones - Horseshoe - March 13th, 2009
I finally got to see what makes Dinosaur Bones the most hyped-about band in Toronto at the moment when they played The Horseshoe for Canadian Music Fest.
We came upon this trailer on a winding country road between Wimberley and Blanco, Texas. The bones definitely gave it a Boot Hill kind of feeling...
As excited as I was to find possible human remains in the middle of nowhere (a clearing off a trail in the "Rhode Island desert".) the size of the bone got me wondering. Despite the bone being broken on both ends, my research is telling me that this is probably something along the lines of a deer fibula. I joined a bunch of bone ID groups that will hopefully reassure me that it's not someone's arm or whatever. For now, I have succeeded in making people genuinely concerned that I am in possession of murder evidence placed on the dinner table.
i was sitting in the sunshine when i noticed a dried hairball on the table, inside there were very small bones, a baby bird or mouse, i assume. Anyway they made a great photo, one of the series is taken with a penny coin to show the size. Shot with hand held reverse macro.

If you take one of Alaskan Arctic Adventure Tours to Point Barrow you will get a good chance to see Polar Bears. They tend to hang out at the "bone pile". This is where the people take the remains of the Bowhead Whales they harvest. It also keeps the Bears away from town. It is said the Bears can smell this from 15 miles away
