Stumbled upon Cross Bones Cemetery in Southwark. Cross Bones is a newer name, originally known as "The Single Woman's Graveyard" as it was primarily used for burying prostitutes. as this is in London, the place is loved by people into psychogeography and neo-pagan rituals and somehow mostly becomes an interesting site (for the passer by) because of these neo-pagan additions.

I don't agree with the glorified view of prostitution that we often see in these things. Found some kind of a large bone, I think from a leg. The circular part on the bottom looked like a hip socket. Bone was about a foot long… maybe a dog?

This is the skull of a male gray wolf (Canis lupus).
A closer look at the pathological bone, as well as a good look at the crowns of the teeth. Note the extreme wear on these teeth, and how you can see the different layers of enamel and dentine wearing away like layers of rock.
This was a young animal, but he spent a great deal of time gnawing and chewing. The wear is smooth and evenly-distributed, suggesting that it happened over time, not suddenly (as you would see in an animal that had tried to gnaw its way out of a trap).
This level of wear is not really common in young adult animals, which he was. There are multiple reasons for this. Perhaps he wound up eating more hard foods due to his locality. Perhaps he liked to chew. Perhaps he was not high-ranking enough to get the better portions, and had to content himself with eating a lot of gristle and bone.

did a tiny rose on the end I'm cutting off - this was stabilized using Minwax wood hardener. Seems to have worked well, only slight voids. Could be the bone itself was good quality, too.
