Bones, my new foster pup. I pulled him out of the pound November 14 2005. He is at least 40 pounds underweight. But he is a real love.
I found the tiny carcass at Bellevue park, Wilmington, DE and processed the bones all while I was up here! The jaw bones are almost the same size of a rats incisors.
Sadly, the resin can form a drop, which has to be cut off or ground down. This was the most extreme case, most were less of a problem.
Bones are drawn with a blue prisma color pencil. I used a mixture of red and black ink to paint me over top. I found that the ink would not lay over top the skeleton, but I think thats ok because I like how it turned out.

I get these big raw cow bones for Charlie at the farm store where we get our meat and other local goodies. (They don't have a lot of produce but their meat is *so* good, humanely raised, locally farmed, and best of all - usually less expensive than the grocery store, sometimes by a lot. We love that place.)
These keep Charlie occupied for hours - plus, chewing on them keeps his teeth clean and healthy. Costs less than 2 bucks for a bone like that.

These "dog bones" are cow joints and hooves (i.e., knucklebones). This sign makes me chuckle, because these "dog bones" make for quite a delicious "soup for humans," (Korean sullungtang: muffintop.wordpress.com/2006/12/20/sullung-tang-korean-be... and in 1970s New York City, my mom was able to procure these bones from the butcher by asking for "dog bones." (Such bones were never put up for sale). Nowadays, these cuts of meat are available at ethnic groceries (i.e., the Korean market). I was tempted to buy them and make some soup for myself.
