This was taken in Williamsburg, Virginia when I was there this past September with the man who holds my heart. I don't like dead things, they freak me out a bit, however I really enjoyed this skull in the firearms shop. The owner made everything from hand, even the guns, and was a really interesting and fun guy to talk to.

I wasn't sure what I was going to shoot, but I picked this up today after shooting some shots of a friend's company's CEO for some publication he has to do (gotta love the barter system.....I would have done it for free for the experience though). I've always loved skulls. There is just something very beautiful about them. I look forward to shooting this one a bunch.
Anyway, there are so many different textures to be found in the bone of this skull. I took a bunch of shots from a lot of angles. Now I just need to figure out which one to submit.

T Bone Steak
A carnivore (play /ˈkɑrnɪvɔər/) meaning 'meat eater' (Latin, carne meaning 'flesh' and vorare meaning 'to devour') is an organism that derives its energy and nutrient requirements from a diet consisting mainly or exclusively of animal tissue, whether through predation or scavenging.[1][2] Animals that depend solely on animal flesh for their nutrient requirements are considered obligate carnivores while those that also consume non-animal food are considered facultative carnivores.[2] Omnivores also consume both animal and non-animal food, and apart from the more general definition, there is no clearly defined ratio of plant to animal material that would distinguish a facultative carnivore from an omnivore, or an omnivore from a facultative herbivore, for that matter.[3] A carnivore that sits at the top of the foodchain is an apex predator.

I've been collecting chicken bones for about two weeks now and finally was at a point where I had enough to make more bone broth. Along with chicken bones I also had some veggies that I'd been storing in the freezer. These are the bits of veggies that are washed and not used. For instance the stem of broccoli or onion peels. It sounds silly, but it adds soo much flavor to the bone broth.
Soak your ingredients in some water with a splash of apple cider vinager or lemon juice. I let it soak a half an hour before turning my oven on low. (My crock pot is broken.) Then I let it simmer for 10 hours before straining out the bones and veggies and storing the broth in containers for the freezer . The smaller containers work well in stir fries and other dishes and the larger containers I use in soups, while cooking rice, or even while boiling potatoes.
Delicious!

A fun and frivolous piece - polymer clay faux bone pendant on a black cord necklace, with waxed linen dangles festooned with cowrie shells and blue and yellow wooden beads. The neck cord is 21" in diameter and adjustable. A light and easy piece to wear with your summer linens, and an answer to your quest for interesting jewellery.
I have to admit....some of this boxcar graffiti is pretty good. I saw this one today in Rock Island,Illinois. I just hope the artist's talents aren't going to waste on private property like this. At least they keep the spray paint industry busy.
One can never have too many bones to chew. Of course each one must be sampled before settling on the perfect one!!! When it's very cold outside it's a good way to keep busy!
I had to laugh when I saw Ghillie lying on his blanket with all the bones scattered all over the floor. Our poor bone basket has seen it's share of chewing too as you can see. :)
Have a great Sunday!
Self-initiated work reflecting on the conflicting arguments between Creationism and Evolution. The Cathedral design is made out of the bones of dinosaurs and other extinct creatures.
These bones are from a modern wombat. Wombats generally die inside of their burrows, but family members push their carcasses outside when they "clean up" their space.
This paleontological excavation site near Neuquen had so many bones and so little storage space due to lack of funds that in the laboratory big bones were just lying around on filing cabinets. Most of them weren´t quite as big as this specimen though.
