We've had a tease of spring over recent weeks but the last two days have brought us full force back into winter with cold temperatures, snow, and a fierce wind - the kind that blows right through your heavy coat to the bone. Consequently, I haven't had a chance to get my camera out and have to resort to searching through my archives. This image was taken on top of Kemble Mountain after an equally cold snowy day a couple of years ago.

I had forgotten about a visit to the New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science back in 2015.
I'd had the old Super-Takumar lens that I had used with my Pentax Spotmatic back in the late '70s.
Lighting in the museum was challenging, but the shadows looked cool.
A short intermodal out of Northtown speeds eastbound past a sad grain train that stopped around the corner at Park Jct three hours earlier.
Cross Bones Graveyard in Southwark began life as a burial ground for licenced prostitutes or Winchester Geese and eventually became a pauper's graveyard. Apparenetly it is still dense with the bones of the dead. This odd little shrine has accumulated with offerings from local people. It is an odd and moving place . I think the site is up for development...and controversially seeing its history.

Bones, 4 years after his Femoral Head Ostectomy (FHO) surgery he is still able to get up and run, but you can see his 2 back legs work together a classic sign of severe hip dysplasia. Some days are better then others for him...

Class 58's 58024 and 58019 'Shirebrook Colliery' have a long train of coal bound for Didcot as they rattle through Small Heath in Birmingham, the picture is from Golden Hillock Road Bridge.
The yard is in use for automobile traffic at this time, in the background Birmingham has yet to acquire the tall buildings of today, the Rotunda and BT Tower being the most prominent, although not very tall the shiny slug of the Selfridge building catches the eye today.
58024 was built 31/12/1985, it was scrapped at Monforte-del-Cid in Spain Circa 2019, 58019 was built 30/11/1984 and cut by EMR Metals at Kingsbury in October 2010.
I don't have a date for this picture although a guess would be early to mid 1990's what I do remember was that the clouds produced a soaking a few minutes after this picture was taken.

I was raised in the tropics but I do enjoy winter - the freshness of the air, the bite of it on your face, and the whiteness that makes everything look new. I also enjoy coming back inside, where a glass of wine and a hearty stew can put some warmth back into into my old bones.
This tree had been washed up the beach (quite some way really), it was very bone like and detail popped well in the sunset light.

and Yet another shot of these amazing roots. i don't know if it's something usually accepted on the Olympic peninsula, but a kind lady told me that all these dead trees on the beach are usually called "bones". they perfectly fit the description to be honest, as a lot of them are organic and white in a bizarre way. Thousand of them in places. Rialto Beach is filled with these.
