Rusting Classic Trucks at the Motor Transport Museum in Campo, San Diego with the Milky Way rising up behind them.
10 frames stacked for the sky and blended with one long exposure at 66 seconds for the foreground.
This was a last minute idea, part because the bricklink store I was browsing had 3 skrall helmets, so I figured why not! I took the most design liberties here, since the base figure was literally just a "black stickman". So I figured spikes and ribs would make a fitting addition, emphasizing the scavenger aspect of the character. The ice sword also works better here than a skrall blade. No idea about building a mount for it yet, but when budget and inventory allows it I might try!
The tail end of the 2017 Photo Safari to Europe brought us to the village of Hallstatt, Austria.
If you ever have the chance to visit this is a must see. The Bone House or Charnel house.

The world-famous charnel house in St. Michael’s Chapel
Alongside the world’s oldest salt mine and the idyllic, world-famous postcard view, the charnel house or ‘Bone House’ in St. Michael’s Chapel is one of the most interesting tourist sites in Hallstatt. The chapel dates back to the 12th century and is located next to the catholic parish church. Each year, visitors from throughout the world come to admire the unusual collection of over 600 artistically painted skulls. Many of the skulls were decorated at the end of the 18th century, but a few are from even the 20th century.

Vertebrae are exquisite examples of art in nature. This specimen (2 cm across at widest point) is a thoracic vertebra, still attached to a delicate rib. Found on a tiny island, it is likely from some sort of waterfowl, possibly a cormorant judging from the prevalence of that species in the area and the pile of black feathers associated with the bones.
The heart in the reflection was only apparent with a very low camera angle and if the rib was pointed towards the far back of the shot, giving a nice dof effect at f11.
Whoever said "The way to a man's heart is through his stomach" should have clarified it to "The way to a Father's heart is through his stomach". Happy Father's Day, indeed!
My first 'Tomahawk Steak". 4 pounds of Medium Rare, the BEST steak I have ever had, prepared by my son. Thanks God he didn't get his kitchen prowess from me, or it would have been 4 pounds of Frosted Flakes for dinner.
Absolutely flawlessly prepared, and I didn't dare put a drop of steak sauce or horseradish on it. Don't get me wrong, I'm good with either, but not on this bad boy. A little coarse salt, a little pepper, and I wanted nothing but the natural flavor of the steak. I made a wise decision, indeed.
To all the fathers out there, I hope you had a great day!
It took two retirees five summers to dig this up. Slow, painstaking - they use paint brushes and screwdrivers! One of the largest apatosaurus femurs ever found. Six feet long.

Great visions burst upon my sight.
For down the stretches of the sky,
The hosts of dead go marching by."

One of the most interesting (and strange) places I've visited in Portugal is the Capela dos Ossos (Bone Chapel), a small room attached to the Igreja de São Francisco (San Francisco Church) in Évora. The chapel was built by Franciscan monks in the 16th-century using bones from over 5,000 people that came from overflowing graveyards at nearby churches and monasteries. To add to the atmosphere, there was dramatic classical music playing and an inscription above the door in Portuguese that says “We bones that are here are waiting for yours.”

Osteophagy is the practice in which animals, usually herbivores, consume bones. Most vegetation around the world lacks sufficient amounts of phosphate. Phosphorus is an essential mineral for all animals, as it plays a major role in the formation of the skeletal system, and is necessary for many biological processes including: energy metabolism, protein synthesis, cell signalling, and lactation. Phosphate deficiencies can cause physiological side effects, especially pertaining to the reproductive system, as well as side effects of delayed growth and failure to regenerate new bone.
While osteophagy has been regarded as a beneficial behavior to combat mineral deficiencies in animals, osteophagic practices have also been observed to be detrimental to the dentition of herbivores. It has been observed that the pattern of wear on the cheek teeth of herbivores is congruous to the manner in which herbivores hold and chew bones. A major cost of osteophagy is therefore significant wear on teeth and dental breakage in herbivores, whose teeth are not designed for the regular consumption of hard materials but rather for the grinding of vegetal fibres.

Kinda crappy editing but it is late and i shall do a better edit later <3
By Dana Albany. I don't know if this is the same Bone Tree built for the burn in '99, but it sure looks similar. The bones are real, taken from the desert and ranches nearby.

Week 4: "I prefer winter and fall, when you feel the bone structure in the landscape - the loneliness of it - the dead feeling of winter. Something waits beneath it - the whole story doesn't show."
