Skull and Cross Bones on a grave in the Howff graveyard Dundee. I have to admit to not having seen this commonly used on Gravestones before, but there were several of these so I asked a local man I met there who thought it probably depicted death not some link to the pirate fraternity as I was imagining.

I think I will avoid goat from now on. Each time it gets served with unexpected bones (the print menu didn't mention them), and more of it gets in my teeth and gums than in my stomach.

BONE TUMOR
Bone tumor is a cancer of bones that begins in any bone in the body. It most commonly affects the long bones that make up the arms and legs. There are several types of bone tumor. Some of the tumors occur primarily in children while other may only occur in adults.

Symptoms of bone tumors-
The common signs and symptoms of bone tumor are
o Bone pain
o Swelling and tenderness near the affected area
o Broken bone
o Fatigue
o Unintended weight loss
Causes of bone tumors-
The exact cause of most bone tumor is not clear. Doctors know that bone tumor begin as an error in the DNA of the cells. The error results in growing and dividing of the cells in an uncontrolled way. These cells continue to live rather than dying at the set time. The mutated cells accumulate forming a tumor that can invade nearby structures and spread to other parts and organs of the body.
Treatment of bone tumor-
The treatment option for the bone tumor is based on the type of the cancer, its stage, the overall health of the patient, his age and the preference.
Types of bone cancer
Bone cancers are broken down into separate types based on the type of cell where the cancer began. The most common types of bone cancer include:
o Osteosarcoma- This type of tumor begins in the bone cells.
o Chondrosarcoma- It begins in cartilage cells that are commonly found on the ends of bones.
o Ewing’s sarcoma- It’s not clear where in bone Ewing’s sarcoma begins but research shows that it begins in nerve tissues.
The treatment usually involves surgery, chemotherapy, radiation or a combination of treatments.
Surgery
Surgery is done to remove the entire bone cancer. For the accomplishment of the same, doctors remove the tumor and a small portion of healthy tissue that surrounds it. There are different types of surgery to treat bone tumor which may include:
o Surgery to remove a limb
o Surgery to remove the cancer, but spare the limb
o Surgery for cancer that doesn’t affect the limbs.
Radiation therapy
Radiation therapy uses high power beams of energy such as X rays to kill cells that spread cancer or tumor. During this therapy, the patient is made to lie down on a table while a special machine moves around him and aims the energy beams at precise points on the body.
Radiation therapy is used in people with bone tumor that cannot be removed with the help of surgery. Radiation therapy is also sometimes used after surgery to kill any tumor cells that may be left behind. Those with advanced bone tumor, radiation therapy may help controlling signs and symptoms such as pain
Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy is drugs based treatment that uses chemicals to kill the cells spreading cancer. It is mostly give intravenously. The chemotherapy medication travel through out the patient’s body
It is often combined with radiation therapy before surgery to shrink a bone cancer to a more manageable size that allows the surgeon to perform a limb-sparing surgery.

Bone-shaped candy used to come in these Mr Bones coffins from Fleer. The candy was used to make a skeleton. These are the orange, yellow and red versions. A black version exist but I do not have it in my collection yet.

it had been a while, so we bought nenya a dog bone again. she was pretty happy. at first colby did not want her to take it outside, so she just held it in her mouth the whole time. any chance she got, she'd run to the garage door. so she got her way. she happily chomped away on it in the backyard.
Bones bring out the wild predator in this otherwise well domesticated and almost timid hound.

The Cemetery Church of All Saints with the Ossuary

A cistercian monastery was founded near here in the year 1142. One of the principal tasks of the monks was the cultivation of the grounds and lands around the monastery. In 1278 King Otakar II of Bohemia sent Henry, the abbot of Sedlec , on a diplomatic mission to the Holy Land. When leaving Jerusalem Henry took with him a handful of earth from Golgotha which he sprinkled over the cemetery of Sedlec monastery, consequently the cemetery became famous, not only in Bohemia but also throughout Central Europe and many wealthy people desired to be buried here.The burial ground was enlarged during the epidemics of plague in the 14 th century (e.g.in 1318 about 30 000 people were buried here) and also during the Hussite wars in first quarter of the 15 th. century.

After 1400 one of the abbots had a church of All -Saints erected in Gothic style in the middle of the cemetery and under it a chapel destined for the deposition of bones from abolished graves, a task which was begun by a half blind Cistercian monk after the year 1511. The charnel-house was remodelled in Czech Baroque style between 1703 - I710 by the famous Czech architect, of the Italian origin, Jan Blažej SANTINI-Aichl. The present arrangement of the bones dates from 1870 and is the work of a Czech wood-carver, František RINT (you can see his name, put together from bones, on the right-hand wall over the last bench).
Our ossuary contains the remains of about 40 000 people. The largest collections of bones are arranged in the form of bells in the four corners of the chapel.
The most interesting creations by Master Rint are the chandelier in the centre of the nave, containing all the bones of the human body , two monstrances beside the main altar and the coat-of arms of the Schwarzenberg noble family on the left-hand side of the chapel.
I still remember the ear-to-ear smile as I experienced Bones Bearings for the first time...you absolutely flew!

and the bearings are still the best, the ceramic ones should come with a warning note.

many, many memories lie in these little plastic figures. i'd beg my grandma to take me to knoodle kadoodle to get me those foil packages- rip em open in the car and marvel.
the game in itself was uncreative- thats a given(line up the figurines and flick one crazy bone at a time at the opponents line up and knock them over). and i definitely dont think i would have enjoyed them as much as i did if it werent for my brother, zach. he collected them too and we would flick these stupid plastic things until our nails were red and swollen. and then we'd go watch a movie =)
the ones in the photo are actually my brothers. mine were thrown away after i moved. if he knew i was messin with his, hed get real mad. but if you do happen to see this, zach, dont get mad. i put them (all) back were i found them. and thank you. thank you for being part of the good memories i do have and thank you for being you. =)
