Detail from plate 6, engraved anatomical illustration of the "jonctures and articulations of the arm and leg - articulation of ye thigh-bone with ye tibia" from: Anatomy improv'd and illustrated with regard to the uses thereof in designing. (London: John Senex, 1723).
This volume of engraved plates and text was originally published in Rome in 1691, and was re-engraved and republished in London in 1723. The dissections were done for the Italian edition by Bernardino Genga, Professor of Anatomy and Surgery and physician in the hospital of San Spirito in Rome, and the explanatory text by the papal physician Giovanni Maria Lancisi (1654-1720). The book, designed for artists rather than medical students, includes plates of famous classical statues from Rome and is described as 'A work of great use to painters, sculptors, statuaries and all others studious in the noble arts of design'.
The English edition is dedicated by the publisher to Richard Mead, FRCP, FRS (1673-1754), 'a favourer of the politer arts'.
Part of the Anatomical Atlases in Special Collections & Archives, SPEC Anatomy 6. Cropped inscription on the titlepage, 'Tho. Dixon's Book 1799' and the pencilled name' Miss Annie Jackson, 19 North Street' on the front flyleaf, with pencil measurements possibly from a dissected skeleton on the back of the last (index) page.
The volume has had some plates cut out, but has also been grangerised with later anatomical illustrations pasted in.

Geysers are hot springs that episodically erupt columns of water. They occur in few places on Earth. The highest concentration of geysers anywhere is in the Upper Geyser Basin at the Yellowstone Hotspot Volcano (northwestern Wyoming, USA).
Also known as "Pig Nose Geyser", Dog Bone Geyser is a small feature in the Sawmill Group of Yellowstone’s Upper Geyser Basin. It is located between Penta Geyser and Thumping Hole Geyser at 44° 27’ 56.59” North latitude, 110° 50’ 10.52” West longitude - this is west-southwest of Spasmodic Geyser. Dog Bone has two vents - the northeastern vent is visibly gravel-filled, while the southwestern vent is not. Water levels vary from low to high to overflowing. The southwestern vent is more active and often has very low to low splashing. The northeastern vent is more quiescent, but usually has rising bubbles.

I prefer winter and fall, when you feel the bone structure of the landscape - the loneliness of it, the dead feeling of winter. Something waits beneath it, the whole story doesn't show. ~Andrew Wyeth

that was a long walk - the whole gang together - spring ran trough our veins, after forest full of mating frogs we went to fields, we were walking across them towards the River, suddenly one of the canals appeared in front of us, I approached it and next moment I was slipping over the bench covered with dozens of horse jaws...

Title: Skull and Bones
Year: 2015
Medium: Charcoal
Size: 9” 12.25”
Description:
This directed piece in charcoal was completed in my AP Studio class. I used the exercise to explore light on form and shadows. It is also an exploration of the human form, the key to understanding how to dress it, even the consideration of “dressing” the skull with its own hand.

The Search for Animal Chin (1987). A lovingly corny skateboarding video starring the breakout "Bones Brigade" directed and produced by Stacy Peralta, of Powell Peralta Skateboards.
Starring Tony Hawk, Steve Caballero, Mike McGill, Lance Mountain, Tommy Guerrero. It actually had "a plot!"
A movie I loved in 1987 and recently re-watched on DVD with some hilarious directors cuts and bonus disc of interviews with the original cast giving background. I guess you could sort of call this the "pink flamingos" of skateboard videos. It's so absurd it's great, and they skaters actually try to act. Well, a little.
Film also includes smaller parts by other 80's skaters. San Francisco Scene: Jim Thiebaud, Jesse Martinez, Bryce Kanights, Doug Smith. Bakersfield Scene: Chris Borst, Bobby Reeves, Charlie Dubois, Ray Underhill, Adrian Demain, Donny Griffins, Kevin Lambert. Johnny Rad Party Scene: Mike Vallely, Rodney Mullen, Per Welinder, Natas Kaupas, Arron Murray, Kevin Harris.
