The first 2022 daffodil from our garden. Advantaged by coming indoors on Sunday.
I much appreciate your comments and faves, thanks very much!
L' unique scille que j'ai trouvé par chez moi, j'espère que cette beauté va se multiplier pour l'année prochaine.
The lamp housing was here when I arrived. I tied seed lights around the circular steel structure. With the aperture set low for a shallow depth of field a distant light became a big blurry ball. The base of the lamp is quite chunky old wood that is polished and worn with some lovely curves and feels nice to hold. I can only imagine the stories it might tell.

… but without wings. An emerging Magpie Inkcap mushroom (Coprinopsis picacea) is completely white. As it grows the cap is becoming dark with remnants of scales all over resembling magpie (hence its common name and in the scientific epithet ‘picacea’ derived from the Latin name for the Eurasian Magpie bird species - Pica pica) before ‘melting’ away in the process known as deliquescence, as all inkcap mushrooms love to do at the end of their live. In this young age it is very easily confused with the Shaggy Inkcap (Coprinus comatus) which is its edible relative and remains white when grow, whereas Magpie Inkcap is not and considered to be poisonous. I know that this was Magpie as there were plenty of adults around in different stage of decay and not looking too appetising. 😂Old arboretum. Westonbirt Arboretum, South Gloucestershire, England

In the serene landscape of Villa Verde, at the entrance to the famed Celaque National Park in Honduras, I had the opportunity to photograph the striking Azure-crowned Hummingbird, Saucerottia cyanocephala. This region, renowned for its biodiversity, presented a natural canvas for capturing the essence of this vibrant species. The bird, with its distinctive metallic blue crown that glistens like a sapphire under the Honduran sun, offered a compelling subject against the lush, green backdrop of its habitat in Gracias, Lempira.
From a photographer's standpoint, the challenge lay in capturing the intricate details and vivid colors of the hummingbird while maintaining a naturalistic setting. Utilizing a shallow depth of field, I aimed to accentuate the bird's dazzling crown and iridescent plumage, allowing these features to stand out sharply against a smoothly blurred background. The interplay of natural light filtering through the canopy added a dynamic quality to the image, highlighting the textures and hues of the bird's feathers. This photograph is a testament to the patience and precision required in wildlife photography, where waiting for that perfect moment can unveil the extraordinary beauty of even the smallest subjects.

It is good to be back on Flickr!
After a week of an adventurous hospital vacation, standing at the foot of a hill of rehabilitation with a slim opportunity to venture out with a camera in hands till Christmas, I will be dipping into my photo archive for a time being.

Hiking the marsh area around the lakes, and find these little treasures along the bank.
It's the simplicity of it I enjoy so much.
