A flower of the common houseleek (Sempervivum tectorum), a popular garden succulent after the rain. Houseleeks also called Thunder plants, Roof plants or Roof foil (amongst many others) which originated from early beliefs that they could protect houses from lightning strikes. Whether this is true or not, houseleeks are evergreen, readily self-propagated, with attractive reddish-purple flower spikes. The science name “Sempervivum” translates from Latin ‘forever living’ and refers to its longevity, whereas the epithet “tectorum” means ‘of house roofs’ refers to the original use of the plant. Houseleeks remain popular on green roofs of outbuildings today. Taken in the garden. Bath, BANES; Somerset, England, UK

Ah mes amis ! J'ai tourbillonné, tourbillonné avec le vent. Quelle ivresse, je dois être écarlate... Heureusement, cette eau me rafraichit.

Spring in the garden: A daffodil flower with rain droplets and the two looks like a pair of eyes… perhaps. Taken in the garden. Bath, BANES, England, U.K.
I finally submitted my final project for the course I am taking and can't be any happier! I can't believe now I have time to relax and spend time with my family.
As to what's happening in San Diego, the mandatory stay-at-home order is in place, and our streets are empty, even in the downtown area. We don't go to work either, and all schools are closed. As for supermarkets, they are filled up with hasty shoppers, and shelves are being emptied very fast. All gas stations, pharmacies, and take out restaurants are open as well.
Stay well!
Myriads of Common Spotted-orchids (Dactylorhiza fuchsia) were blooming in a secluded grassland landscape dotted with Pyramidal orchids. I liked the way these three specimens stood together in the shade. Bathampton Down. BANES, England UK

Beautifully sunlit Pyramidal orchid (Anacamptis pyramidalis) with few drops of rain from an odd cloud. Soften spikes of Common Spotted-orchids parading in the background complete the scene. Claverton Down. BANES, England UK

The pair of Pyramidal orchid (Anacamptis pyramidalis) growing next to each other - they ought to be related. 🤔😀
The name of the genus ‘Anacamptis’ originated from the Greek word ‘anakampto’ meaning “bent back”. It refers to characteristic shape of the long flower spur that turns up as seen in the left specimen, and not bent down as in other orchids. The epithet ‘pyramidalis’ means ‘pyramidal shaped’ in Latin, and it doesn’t need further explanations if you looked at the shape of these two flower spikes. Little Solsbury Hill. Batheaston near Bath, BANES, England, U.K.
