Wood Cranesbill / Woodland Geranium (Geranium sylvaticum)

County flower of England. Depending on soil conditions, the flowers range from a mauve color to sky blue.

In ancient Europe, the flower was called Odin's Grace, associated with the mythological god, Odin, the god of wisdom, war and poetry. The flowers yield a blue-gray dye that was used in ancient Europe to dye war cloaks, believing it would protect them in battle. It is also said to have been the color of the Virgin Mary's veil indicative of its ancient to medieval sacred valuation.

Class: Magnoliopsida; Order: Geraniales; Family: Geraniaceae

Small soapstone sculpture of a dancing polar bear made by an artist who belongs to one of the indigenous peoples of the far north.

Seen in NONAM, the North American Native Museum in Zürich, Switzerland. A very interesting, small museum that was not very easy to find. Here is the web site. If you want to visit, take the tram to Tiefenbrunnen und walk from there.

These peoples and their culture are not very well known, for reasons that I fail to understand. They have a rich and interesting history and culture that we can learn a lot from.

I went there to see the special exhibition on the Inuit ocean goddess Sedna, eponymous for the transneptunian object 90377 Sedna.

To keep warm in the winter

Your love is my love

The "Gilded Violet Wings" necklace is inspired by the folklore and natural beauty of the Scottish Highlands, where butterflies symbolize transformation, hope, and spiritual rebirth. In Celtic mythology, they represent the soul’s journey between the earthly and spiritual realms. Designed by Mairi, the pendant’s graceful wings echo the flutter of Highland butterflies, with rich, teardrop-shaped violet crystals resembling the heather that blankets the moorlands in late summer. Framed by golden arcs, these wings evoke the warmth of the setting Highland sun behind the rugged peaks.

I was trying to shoot a bird on the fence and it took off, leaving this cool image of out-of-focus cedar trees in the background and little tiny flies that show up as white flecks.
