Meet Bobby, our adorable very friendly blackbird.

One of several who enjoy the Berry garden, he has taken it upon himself to come and tell us, when he needs feeding. He is after all providing for his family.

First thing each morning, he waits on top of the wall outside our kitchen door. Both Ken and I must look rather foolish, as we tu, tu, tut, to let him know we are coming. He gathers a beak full of sultanas and off he flies.

He has taken to landing on the kitchen window ledge, attempting to get inside. He peers through the window, as if to say "they're hungry again"

I've grown so fond of him over the past weeks. Ken has fed him some worms, as he weeded the garden and now he is actually feeding from my hand, although still a little cautious.

It's not the best image, captured on Ken's phone but I think it's lovely.

Bobby loves reading and reading aloud.

He would love to read the story of Little Red Riding Hood to someone, but he doesn't know how. Can anyone help Bobby?

Gravesite of Greyfriars Bobby

About 40 miles southeast of Reykjavík near the village of Selfoss, Iceland, lie the remains of legendary chess champion, Bobby Fischer. The simple gravesite is found next to the Lutheran Church in Laugardælir.

Environ 65 kilomètres au sud-est de Reykjavík, près du village de Selfoss en Islande, reposent les restes du légendaire champion d’échecs Bobby Fischer. La tombe modeste se trouve juste à côté de l’église luthérienne de Laugardælir.

Last October we sadly had to bid farewell to our 19 year old cat, Bert, who can be glimpsed within the picture frame on the window sill. On Good Friday we welcomed 12 week old Bobby. Now 21 weeks old, Bobby is seen here eyeing up a fly doing its best to knock itself out against the window.

This was taken at the 2nd Annual Duck-N-Jeep Jam which is a charity event hosted by The Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office and The Special Olympics! It’s aim obviously is to raise money for the Special Olympics Organization. By all accounts it was a great success.

My photographic plans, however, failed for the day. It was HOT and I just couldn't get in the groove to take photographs and those i did suffered from non attention to my camera settings or attempts at composition. I don’t often have days where I absolutely can not concentrate, even a little, on my photography but here was a major one. I felt hot, miserable and dehydrated no matter how much I drank. My wife suffered worse than I and almost passed out. I worried for her a eventually decided to get her out of there, albeit the event was almost over at that point.

Personal problems aside, this is a great and worthwhile charitable event. I can not wait until next year where I hope the weather will be a little milder or my wife and I are better prepared.

Bobby out for his morning walk. his owner told me he has appeared in print in Japan. From the 'seaside encounters series'.... Update... What happened was a group of Japanese students photographed Bobby with his owner, a few months later the owner received a copy of a Japanese daily newspaper through the post, sure enough there was his picture with bobby in his pram, he had the headline translated and it read 'yet another example of the famous British eccentric sense of humor'. When i took this it was a really grim, windy and grey day, but i like to think from the look on his face bobby was enjoying it.
