Boaters know the places where the current is strong enough (but not much) to swim safely, among them a beach on the west bank, in front of Seluga Island.
This motorboat rapidly passed us on calm water but he created a large wave we had to safely paddle over.

There are many waterfront restaurants here, along with fishing charter boats. It is popular with both tourists and locals. Just a 10-15 minute drive from my home, it's great for photography, people-watching, and especially a beautiful place to enjoy the sea birds and salt air!

A boater is busy getting ready to go out and enjoy the day on the Caddo Lake. He said jokingly don't let anyone at work know he was here! We have to keep it our little secret.:-) Even though I told him we were here to photograph him, really the 1st train of the day was our focus. Here a loaded Martin Lake, TX, coal train highballs across the bridge on this beautiful morning. I see why he is playing hooky! The train is on the Shreveport Terminal Sub and only 15 miles from Shreveport. We would see 3 BNSF coal trains before the end of the day.

I figured the sky was going to be good for a sunset. I set up my tripod and camera near a local lake and waited for the sun to set. Just as it was near setting a man on a pontoon boat oared his way right through my scene. He was apologizing profusely as he went across. I told him, "don't be sorry, I think you just made my shot!"
