Boaters on the Mississippi River driving towards the Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant. Treasure Island Resort & Casino, which is just past the plant, lit off it's annual 4th of July fireworks at dusk.
Breezy warm final days for being on the lake; 70f/21c temps before the cold and gray take over and the days become too short. Liberty Lake is ideal for small craft @ its ~6mi/16km size. The deciduous trees are just turning too.
A sunset telephoto shot of a small fishing boat reflecting in a dramatic November sunset over Bde Maka Ska in south Minneapolis.
Spring Teaser on Liberty Lake
There are tiny buds on some of the trees, but still in mid-April we had a quick heavy snow storm this week! So seeing a couple of boaters venture out is a good sign!!
Boaters rowing on the Willamette River by the Tilikum Crossing Bridge under a smoky Sturgeon moon; Portland, OR NB56254-68
North Park
When I arrived at the park, but before I parked my car, this guy was sitting perfectly centered with his back to where I was at the time and holding his oar straight up in the air. I quickly parked my car and grabbed my camera, in hopes that he wouldn't move. He moved. Oh well...
Boaters need to moor up, open the bridge, pass through, moor up again and close the bridge. Much easier if a crew member can be dropped off.
Boaters take a moment to enjoy the rainbow. The skies had opened up and poured then ended as quickly as it had started. The thunder still roared.
8 buddies taking a sunset cruise down the Fraser River
Had to pan to catch this pleasure craft...it approached quickly and traveled by at a seriously good clip.
The boat itself is slightly soft, giving a realistic sense of motion. .....
I loved the feel of this sun drenched scene...the two guys standing on the swim grid enjoying a couple of cold ones, seemingly oblivious to the speed they were traveling at.
People standing, people sitting, three chillaxing in the comfort of the open bow.
What also caught me eye was the the beautiful wake parting ways behind the transom and the water bubbling and spraying down the sides of hull as the boat cut her path through the river.
Completing this image, at least for me, was the shimmer of the water from the men's warm coloured, elongated reflections dancing off the river's surface.
As a boater, I recognize the need to have your caps on backwards.....without notice the brims easily catch wind...... and poof, they are gone.
Can't count how many times we've had to circled back to rescue hats. lol

hangs in the foyer of the Imaginairium; Portland, OR. Staring into the swirling center is said to have profound effects on the creative centers of the brain, resulting in the belief that one has had just such an experience. To find out for yourself, simply stare into the center (at your own risk!) NB56254-68e3 - Happy Sliders Sunday!
Notice for boaters to be cautious with their boat propellers, as many a manatee get cut up by them in the shallow waters.
