During the Bluedog Sunsets & Star Trails workshop that I did when I was starting photography in 2009, we were given time to just scout out the area for a suitable star trails composition. While I was looking around, I found this lovely spot and the light was just right.

My brother's dog, Rocky, in a blue mood!
; >) This is a reshoot based on an arbitrary image I created over a year ago and tried to salvage by "creative recoloring"… But the image file was too small to print on canvas at the size my brother hoped. So we had a photo session after Thanksgiving. I'm thinking this project may extend into the future as we discover the true concept that they found attractive in the original (crappy) image that I created. But perhaps IT was the Right Stuff. ; > ) Beauty is in the I of the beholder….

Da Mornin' Graf: City Kitty tag with Blue Dog Shades spotted in West Chelsea. Two Artists in one post!
HERO|farm was proud to be a part of last night's 2011 Golden Eagle Dinner for the Southeast Louisiana Council of Boy Scouts of America, where Blue Dog artist and Eagle Scout George Rodrigue was presented with the Distinguished National Eagle Scout Award.
This prestigious award is bestowed upon only 12 men in the country each year and ...is the National Eagle Scout Association’s highest honor.
Mr. Rodrigue is just the sixth person in New Orleans to receive the award, joining former recipients former Saints head coach Jim Mora in 1989 and Civic Leader Frank Stewart, U.S. Attorney Louis Lacour Sr. and former National Guard Major General Ansel Stroud Jr.
CAMP CASEY, South Korea – Normally you wouldn’t associate Angry Birds with Hotdogs or Nachos and Coke. But add five rubber balls and It’s Not What You Think, and you have Camp Casey’s 5-on-5 Dodgeball Tournament, which occurred Oct. 13 at the Carey Fitness Center.
The team sport that most elementary through high school students do during physical education in the states isn’t just for kids anymore. Although the sport has been around for years, it had a resurgence after Vince Vaughn’s 2004 movie “DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story.”
Dodgeball has spread throughout the United States. Colleges have intramural leagues and local community sports centers – such as Washington D.C.’s Arlington Athletic and Social League – have recreational and competitive leagues.
The U.S. National Dodgeball League, which includes the Pittsburgh Punishers, the Houston Bounty Hunters and the Seattle Bluedogs hosted the 9th annual Dodgeball World Championships in Las Vegas this August. The championship brought together teams from Japan, Australia, Canada and Great Britain.
In Area I, nine teams took on the dodgeball challenge laid down by the Camp Casey Better Opportunities for Single (and unaccompanied) Soldiers, or BOSS, program.
In the true spirit of the dodgeball movie, some of the teams took to the court in “unique” team uniforms.
“We were going to do the whole 2-I-D shorts thing,” Pfc. Robert Ferguson, of Battery B, 1st Battalion, 38th Field Artillery Regiment, said in a reference to the 2nd Infantry Division. “But, we went to the Exchange and found some Angry Birds costumes and thought ‘Why not?’”
And thus team Angry Birds was hatched.
Another team that dressed for the tournament was from Company B, 2nd Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, known as the “Manchus.”
“My buddy plays dodgeball in college and they wear all yellow with white head bands,” said Pfc. Cody Crutchfield, team captain for the Manchus.
"So I was like, we are the Manchus, so let’s get our black Manchu t-shirts, black shorts, and the captain will wear black head and wrist bands, while his pawns wear white,” he said.
Just because a team opted to wear a “unique” uniform didn’t mean they didn’t take the competition seriously.
Crutchfield’s Manchus, who found out about the tournament just hours before it started, were serious about winning.
“You have to pick the people you think are good athletes and know how to throw and jump… they have to be agile,” said Crutchfield, who evidently picked his team wisely, as they took first-place in the tournament.
“We wanted to give the Soldiers something fun to do on the weekend,” said Spc. Crystalyne Matthews, BOSS representative for Company B, 302nd Brigade Support Battalion. “It was an inexpensive event for everyone involved, it didn’t cost a dime to participate in or set up.”
Matthews said that during the tournament some of the participants said they’d like to have more dodgeball tournaments scheduled, possibly even a peninsula-wide competition.
“This is a great idea and will allow them to have fun on more than just one day,” Matthews said. “We are always looking for ideas on what to do, so if someone has an idea of an event they would like BOSS to do, they need to contact their unit BOSS rep, or every Wednesday, we have a meeting at the Casey CAC at 3 p.m. and they are more than welcome to come. They can not only give us their idea, but also find out what is going on at Camp Casey.”

This shot was inspired by RocketDog1170 and BlueDog_1199. Honestly it was more inspired by Josh and Cap's since I'd seen Joel's of Jett, but never paid any attention.
But, yeah. This honestly sucks cause I was inspired and I wanted immediate action on top of the bad weather. xD But I'm planning on going back out when I can get a higher shutterspeed. Then maybe I'll get more pictures with Paisley in focus.
I was also thinking, this being inspired by Josh and Joel of course, that I'd do a series of photos of Paisley standing on wacky objects. Might even get myself in on the action with a tripod. Then I can practice self portraits. :)
Anyhow, thanks Josh and Joel for inspiring me with the wonderful photos of your Aussies!
Oh, guys! If you haven't already, you can see Josh and Joel's here: www.flickr.com/photos/97218655@N03/9406069664/

the easter bunny gave odin a bicycle bell which was a little curious since it didn't come with a new bicycle. but we rectified that situation in short order and odin is now very happy to wake up at 6 a.m. and ask to go for a bike ride. every. single. day. i have no doubt that one big reason for wanting to go for a ride so early might have something to do with all the construction equipment nearby.
our local bicycle shop, bluedog cycles carries a model made with easily removable pedals so the child can learn to properly balance themselves without teetering on training wheels.
but alas, odin would have not ride the bike without training wheels, stating emphatically that that is how you learn to ride a bike ( and perhaps implying that we were really silly for thinking that he could learn withouth them! ).

I spent Halloween night in Tamborine Mountain Cemetery with the fantastic Bluedog crew. We had a go at all sorts of night photography -- from landscapes (there were perfect "Garry clouds") to light painting. This one was a long exposure where the werewolf jumped in and was light painted after about a minute (there's no photoshopping involved). A pretty creepy effect, huh, especially considering the date!
This is my 'Forever' entry for the Bluedog comp.
A quick shot before I fly out to Vanuatu tomorrow morning to spend a week over these with a group of like minded photographers. Can't wait and looking forward to the whole experience!
My husband's hand. Scarred and calloused from years of working hard to provide for our family. Talented hands that labour in his chosen trade. Such strong hands, but with a touch so very gentle and tender. I love when he holds my hand in his, making me feel so loved and protected.
it all started with a book - "henry and beezus". in the classic beverly cleary book, which we read the book to odin over the winter, henry huggins has one misadventure after another while attempting to raise money for the bike of his dreams. after finishing the book, odin decided that he too wanted to save up money to buy the bike of his dreams.
so, he promptly went to bluedog cycles, picked out a very stylish ( and spendy ) kona and set about saving money by doing a variety of chores around the house. and every so often he'd take a jar of money to the bike shop to put towards His Dream Bicycle that was sitting in the window with a "sold" sign.
we all decided that when spring arrived odin could have a rummage and bake sale to, hopefully, earn the balance left to be paid. at last spring arrived and after much deliberation he selected some Very Special Things ( including his first bicycle that he learned to ride without training wheels ) ) that were not quite as special as His Dream Bicycle, and helped make cookies and brownies and hotdogs on The Big Day.
within 4 hours he made enough money to buy His Dream Bicycle.
