I think he is called a grosbeak. thick and chunky bird with a tough looking beak. He came to the feeder everyday one winter and stuffed his face with sunflower seeds. This one was black and white with a bold red patch on his under side
It's a linocut I did in 2007 depicting St. Petersburg (Russia) a magical and mysterious city of remarkable beauty. There are some actual buildings shown here: St Isaac's Cathedral on the upper left and St Peter and the spire of Paul's Cathedral in the center, but there is no place where one can see the exact location. What I tried to portray was the myth of a city.

Here's my recently finished press I built from a bunch of lumber, some angle-iron and a car jack. Total cost about $60, though I splurged on stain, melamine iron-on-edging, and all new materials even though I could find most of the same stuff in the garbage and in my dad's garage and might have saved myself about $40.
Now my laundry area is good for getting clothes dirty, as well as getting them clean.
A Ex Libris stamp for the Inna and Tom's library. This one's quite big (app. 7cm or 3" wide) and more like a small print.

Carving has proceeded slowly this week...there are so many other projects in progress as well! It's difficult to focus on one thing at a time.
Stamped in Dachau. Post WWII.
Bernhard Altmann entered the textile trade in Vienna in 1915, and he opened his textile, weaving and printing company in Dachau in 1919. His company grew to employ 1000 people by 1938 before the German Anschluss forced him to flee to London. His brother Fritz Altmann was taken prisoner by the Nazis, and Bernhard was forced to sign over the business in return for Fritz's release from Dachau Concentration Camp.
