At the end of the session, I ended up liking the tray better than the prints, but a fun experiment all around.

Strangely, the photos of the tray here really look like I was printing on the convex, inside of the tray. But it's an illusion - it was definitely on the concave out/underside of the tray.

Putting a bit of collage on some of these before reducing the wood block and printing it again.

Owl and Pussycat pillows

My namesake cat, Minouette's portrait is blockprinted in mauve on gold silk fabric, and a western screech-owl in is blockprinted in brown on gold silk. The reverse is a wonderful printfabric illustrating their tale. (The set: ocean as turquoise, knit, throw blanket, boat, sky & sun as Japanese washi paper).

New 4x4 linocut hand-printed in a custom dark grey. Originally made to be a two block print but I like this layer so much I might keep several as is.

Mexican block printing

I think this is my fave.It feels like moonlight on a ferny mountainslope.11.3.08

I printed these with Speedball Supergraphic Black Relief Ink and used both of my Iron Frog Barens (frogs).

I really liked this Ink! It is smoother than any other I have used. I went on very well and I think it’s pretty great!

4X6 Linocut inspired by a personal photo

2x3 linocut mini print. Just for fun.

This is my linocut portrait of Chien-Shiung Wu, her reflection (as in a mirror) and a schematic of her famous 1956 experiment which showed that unlike anything else, the weak force isn't the same if you reflect the set-up in the mirror (it isn't spatially invariant, it violates parity). She place radioative Cobalt-60 in a strong magnetic field and showed that the emitted beta decay electrons went preferentially in one direction (shown as down towards the North pole of the electromagnet in the box on the left). When the mirror reflection of the experiment was performed, the emitted electrons go preferentially in the OPOSITE direction (up towards the North pole of the electromagnet in the right side schematic).

The print is 12.3 by 12.5 inches, printed in an edition of 10 on ivory Japanese kozo paper. Wu in purple, and her reflection, are based on a photo of her in her lab. The Cobalt-60 is shown with the cobalt blue sphere in the schematics.

Two color woodblock print on the tiny 3x5 scraps of paper left over from the tops of older pin registered prints. The careful observer will notice my cyan, magenta, yellow, and black color notations peeking through.

3x4 linocut mini print . I have cut stamps for the different interior parts, but just haven't found the right brown inks so I have experimented with a few colored pencils just for fun.
