'The building of new facilities at the east end of Wymondham Abbey, Norfolk, in 2014–15 involved re-opening a Romanesque arch. This had previously connected the nave’s north aisle with the north transept, and appears to have been blocked at the Dissolution when the transepts and eastern arm of the abbey church were demolished. As works progressed in 2014–15, a remarkable Gothic window tracery design was gradually revealed, incised on the early twelfth-century ashlar of the southern respond. The discovery is one of the most substantial and complete incised designs identified to date and, beyond being an important addition to the emerging corpus of incised designs on walls, it is significant for revealing use of black pigment to make the drawing more visible, for providing an insight into the lost monastic parts of the abbey and, most tantalisingly, for raising the possibility that Wymondham – like its nearby sister priory at Binham – was at the forefront of the development of bar tracery in England in the thirteenth century.'

Various Lego Creator sets to build a single city block

Paper: 5 cm

Modules: 32 in five colours

Modules by Tomoko Fuse

Model: Own Assembly (Wenninger 68)

Again a simple assembly with an interesting geometry. Its a cuboctahedron where the squares are replaced by inward pointing pyramids. It is a non-convex uniform polyhedon - Wenninger No 68 - called the Octahemioctahedron.

Its faces are eight triangles (black) - left over from the cuboctahedron and 4 hexagon going right through the center. Best seen here is the light lilac one, even better you may see it when handling (or folding) the model.

Didn't use glue, perhaps because I used modules from Unit Origami Polyhedra with large flaps. Triangles with pocket either from the same book or Kusudama Hana Origami (JH).

20" Dutch Rose Block, made using Joel Dewberry's Heirloom. Tutorial available here: theelvengarden.blogspot.com.au/2012/09/qal-block-9-dutch-...

This is one option for finishing my block for Sharon's class. Note that there is a "shadow" on the work from the scan because the rose is so three dimensional. Please look at the other option (pink rose) and tell me which you prefer and why...

Had to try this too. Tutorial on my blog.

The J70 is most famous for being represented by Toby and other trams in the Thomas and Friends franchise.

This is my first Swoon block I made a bit ago. I wasn't going to make anymore because it is so big and I tend to go more toward smaller, mini things. I do think they are beautiful blocks though so I am going to make more, maybe smaller? Not sure just yet!

I had fun playing with the colors on this one.

My second block for the Star Light Star Bright quilt along. A little wonkier than my first block, but I'm trying to just take a deep breath and let it go. :)

In this technique the punch is blocked and a counter punch performed at the same time
