My first photo for the International Black and White Challenge - Dead End Edition.
Ice blocks on the frozen Lower Lake Rudan. This is how thick the ice was a couple of days ago. I didn't dare to test it today so I stayed on the pier.
When I'm in the crowd, I don't see anything, my mind goes a blank, in the humid sunshine when I'm in the crowd

This is my test block in my colors. I love how it turned out and can't wait to make everyone else's!
blocks for Emily...I am actually very jealous of the quilt that Emily is going to have! I am so making one of these!
Some more scrap blocks for my quilt. I love these blocks, and I'm sure I have enough scraps for 100 blocks.
We discovered this old, abandoned farm near here recently. Two men were standing in the driveway and we asked if we could take some pictures. With their OK, we started working our way back through the property. Back behind the empty house, and the falling down barn, we found this old 40's or 50's era Chevrolet dump truck.
The truck's back tires were sunk deep into the earth while the front end was blocked up to keep it from sinking away. I was looking into the sun when I took five exposures at varying exposures that later were blended into a HDR shot in NIK HDR Efex Pro 2. Then, I ran it through NIK Color Efex Pro 4 and got it the way I wanted it to look.
About HDR shots: I like them. I like the realistic ones and the ones that are over the top. I did push this one a bit towards over the top---but I like the way it pops. HDR is a great tool for getting the exposure correct under wide dynamic range situations---like this one.
I made this image with my Pentax K5 and Pentax 18-135 lens.

This block is from the book 99 Modern Blocks. It's a fun and simple (paper-piecing is involved) block and I highly recommend you give it a whirl.
She wanted a bit about where we live, and what we like.
I live in the UK (nnnaaahhh really? haha) and i like fabric. The selvages are from some of my favourite fabrics.
My first attempt at foundation piecing.
Block's not as wonky as it looks.

Block Arcade is a heritage shopping arcade in the central business district of Melbourne, Victoria. The arcade is L-shaped, connecting Collins Street at the south end to Elizabeth Street on the west. The 'L' shape is converted into a 'T' through the junction on the north side with Block Place, a partly covered pedestrian laneway that leads to Little Collins Street, opening opposite the Royal Arcade.
The arcade which was built between 1891 and 1893 was designed by architect David C. Askew whose brief was to produce something similar to the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele in Milan. The result was one of Melbourne's most richly decorated interior spaces, replete with mosaic tiled flooring, glass canopy, wrought iron and carved stone finishings.
