Remember when they used to put the Month & Day on prints?

Bow on shot of the Goodyear Blimp croped to a square format photo.

Flew right over the house. Photographed from my front porch.

A foggy morning and golden sunlight transform the blimp into a thing of beauty. An old Instamatic photo, hence the square dimensions.

On the corners of boulevards I call your name

Now and again they play our tune

In the grip of a tiny hand over a flame

Pale as the phases of the moon ...

In the cafes and shopping malls I see your face

turn into mist on evening dew

but a book and a photograph just aren't the same

there is a train that's leaving soon

Over pillars and palaces I'll hold your hand

Until the fog is lifted

Maybe better you hold me close than understand

How far away I've drifted

In the face of a tragedy too bleak to know

The death of some grand illusion

All the treasure we pilloried, splendour we stole ...

They never told you that in school

Konnyebb volna tan feledni (Perhaps it would be easier to forget)

Mint tavozasom erteni (Than to understand my departure)

Multobol egy kiszak itott lap (A torn page from the past)

E kodbol indul egy vonat (A train is leaving from this fog)

...Que je voudrais vous presenter, messieurs et dames

Regardez bien, je vous en prie

Here's a map and a diagram, a shrivelled page

Ripped from the book of history

See the priceless antiquity frozen in time

Built on the ashes of the Jews

And for your curiosity, beauty sublime

Signed in the blood of Zulus

Not really a goosestep, more of a limp

Goodyear Blimp, N3A

The Goodyear Blimp came flying by our home and I had only a minute to grab my camera after I heard it, run out my door, and compose the best shot I could as it flew away.

Spotted at Orange County Airport in Montgomery, NY.

Wernher's blimp is back to operational status & ready for deployment tomorrow to test another drop pod from 25km

I got this shot of the Hood Blimp, a New England icon, as it was flying right over me this summer.

We were eating lunch outside when the blimp flew by the house. Really cool.

The NYPD deployed an actual blimp -- apparently sponsored by Fujifilm -- to keep tabs on the protests that took place during the Republican National Convention.

In this case we see the blimp at about 11am on the eve of the Republican National Conventio, just as the United for Peace and Justice March got underway.

Carson, California, Near the junction of Interstates 110 and 405 in Carson is Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company's blimp base on the West Coast of the US, home to the Spirit of Innovation.

I must have sat on the side of the Rhien River in Cologne, Germany, for ages waiting for the blimp to be just in between the spires of the Kolner Dom (Cologne Cathedral).

In my opinion, it was well worth the wait.

Ya gotta view at original size to get a decent glimpse of the bird.

I LOVED this against the clouds!

The iconic Goodyear Blimp soars over Orange Road in northern St. Joseph County, Indiana (immediately south of the Indiana-Michigan state line). Wingfoot One (N1A), one of three blimps currently operated by the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, was in the South Bend area celebrating the success of tire testing at Tire Rack, which has been an official partner of Goodyear for almost 20 years.
