Why do you need 5 sponges and three socks to make the blimp fit better to your dainty cam?
Well, actually, dainty cams easily get lost inside the blimp and it bcomes hard to find the viewfinder. Yellow sponges of the size common in Germany perfectly fit the depth of the blimp. To the right of the blimp you can see how I place them inside the blimp (viewed from the rear). The socks stabilize the sponges and make their surface much more pleasant to the skin. I'd recommend to use dry sponges and laundered socks.
The Goodyear Blimp floats over the northern end of the Tucson Mountains. While the common name for this airship is a "blimp", it is actually a zeppelin with a semi-rigid shell.
This is a picture that Dad took sometime in the 1930s of a dirigible over the Potomac River. Unexpectedly seeing one of these huge airships overhead must have been quite a surprise at the time.
Only uploaded to show that my camera sux, and PDX has smog issues. This thing wasn't that far up and went right over the tower.... Paul would have gotten a gorgeous shot of this. Anyways, it's just a blimp. My mind's eye imagines it would be cool if the guard base filled the ramp space, formerly reserved for C-135s, with non-existent rigid Navy dirigibles.
The Conan Blimp docked at the Carroll County Regional Airport after spending the afternoon over Baltimore, Maryland on 10/13/2010.
Altitude 2,000 ft. Distance 1/2 mile. Near the Angel stadium in Anaheim, CA.
I only saw this blimp one time. About six months later I heard a story on the radio about a blimp that was touring the country to raise money for disabled children and was actually painted by the children. This may be that blimp.

I have created a gallery with other photos and information concerning this blimp.

In use. As you can see, there is a grip hole on the right, a window for chimping and setting up of the cam, and a smaller coverable one to look through the viewfinder. The white tape is helpful if you don't want to excoriate your nose - unfortunately the rough side of the velcro fastener of the viewfinder cover meets with your olfactory organ.
