Surrounded by nothing but turquoise lagoon which melts into sapphire blue, the Maldives island of Anantara Kihavah and its pure white sands rise up out of the ocean like a mirage.
For centuries, this was where Arab traders sailing to the Far East took shelter; a lush paradise blessed by coconut, papaya and mango trees. Navigating archipelago to archipelago by the stars, the seafarers were also drawn by the riches of the ocean surrounding the island – where a prehistoric volcano sank back into the depths, leaving blooming corals within a house reef and a wealth of lagoon fish.
Wishing to keep the pristine nature of the island intact, not one tree has been moved – as evidenced by the villas growing up around them. The design pays homage to the seafarers of old, fusing Indian Ocean, Arab and Portuguese motifs with indigenous materials.
It's been a long time since I've seen an owl. I remember seeing one sitting on a fence when I was a kid and I was absolutely mesmerized. Mom told me not to get too close so I kept my distance. I've seen a couple since then but none that I was able to get a good look at (much less get a photo of!).
Now to present day, I discovered Muscatatuck last year after seeing some really cool nature shots from other flickr friends. Every time I saw someone post a snap of an owl I've been jealous. I've looked high and low and even researched owl spotting tips on google. No luck. Until last weekend.
It was my last trip around the auto tour. I was exhausted and had already spent several hours taking photos in the cold. That moment is when I spotted something out of the corner of my eye. I looked behind me and couldn't believe my eyes. This owl was sitting in a tree right next to the road. It wasn't even startled by me taking photos of it from the car. It just sat there, took a little glance at me, looked around a few times and then rested its eyes. And I snapped away. 📷

(I also spotted a screech owl on this trip as well, which I'll post at a later time! Two owls in one day. 😁 )

The Cathedral of Blessed Virgin Mary is a Gothic cathedral, created at the site of a mosque built by the Muslim Almohad dynasty. The Cathedral is the largest and one of the most magnificent Gothic churches in the world.
Inside there are wonderful treasures of Spanish history and culture.
In the northern part of transept there is a silver altar (Altar de Plata), which was supposed to be the main altar. On the opposite side of transept (south), the sarcophagus of Christopher Columbus was located.

Katedra Najświętszej Marii Panny jest gotycką katedrą, powstałą w miejscu meczetu zbudowanego przez muzułmańską dynastię Almohadów. Katedra jest największym i jednym z najwspanialszych kościołów gotyckich na świecie.
We wnętrzu znajdują się wspaniałe skarby historii i kultury hiszpańskiej.
W północnej części transeptu znajduje się ołtarz srebrny (Altar de Plata), który miał być ołtarzem głównym. Po przeciwnej stronie transeptu (południowej) ulokowano sarkofag Krzysztofa Kolumba.

I took a trip with my cousin to the east coast of Scotland, this is the pier at St Monans, Fife. Along the way we took in some sights including Inverkeithing Bay, Weymss Coves and the Standing Stones of Lundin. We arrived at St Monans just in time for sunset. The sun set and we were blessed with a good half an hour of pinky atmosphere. I hope you have a good Sunday.

Loreta is a pilgrimage destination in Hradčany, a district of Prague, Czech Republic. It consists of a cloister, the church of the Lord’s Birth, the Santa Casa and a clock tower with a famous chime.
Construction started in 1626 and the Holy Hut was blessed on 25 March 1631. The architect was the Italian Giovanni Orsi, and the project was financed by Kateřina Benigna, a noblewoman of the Lobkowicz family. Fifty years later the place of pilgrimage was surrounded by cloisters, to which an upper storey was added after 1740 by Kilián Ignác Dientzenhofer.[1] The baroque facade was designed by the architects Christoph Dientzenhofer and Kilian Ignaz Dientzenhofer, and added at the beginning of the 18th century.
The chapel is most known for its peal, heard since August 15, 1695. It was constructed during 1694 by watchmaker Peter Neumann from thirty smaller and larger bells.
Today the building also houses a large collection of liturgical tools, mainly monstrances. Exhibitions are occasionally held on the first floor of the cloister.
Neighbouring Loreta Square (Czech: Loretánské náměstí) is named after Loreta.
