Apparently I'm having a bit of a black & white phase lately. Also when processing this picture of a Mala Mala leopard in the rain, I found that B&W gave a lot more drama to the shot than color did. So I again left my comfort zone and converted to B&W.
I promise I will post a color picture again soon !! :-)
Usually a lot of people hate it when it rains during their African holiday. I'm not one of them. Besides the fact that I like shooting in cloudy, overcast light much more than animals in the harsh African sunlight, the rains bring much needed water for animals and plants to survive. So who am I to complain about a shower or two.
This beautiful male leopard did what all cats do in the rain: endured it grumpily and hoped for it to end soon, from time to time vigorously shaking the drops from his coat. Thank you, beautiful leopard.

When I went to the zoo, I intended to do only portraits. I took the day, but I came back with several promising photos. Here's one of them ...
The Shwedagon Pagoda officially titled Shwedagon Zedi Daw also known in English as the Great Dagon Pagoda and the Golden Pagoda, is a 99 metres 325 ft gilded pagoda and stupa located in Yangon, Burma. The pagoda lies to the west of Kandawgyi Lake, on Singuttara Hill, thus dominating the skyline of the city. It is the most sacred Buddhist pagoda for the Burmese with relics of the past four Buddhas enshrined within: the staff of Kakusandha, the water filter of Koṇāgamana, a piece of the robe of Kassapa and eight strands of hair from Gautama, the historical Buddha. Uppatasanti Pagoda is an exact replica of Shwedagon Pagoda in Naypyidaw, the new capital of Burma.
Most Myanmar people are Buddhist, at the same time believing astrology which originated from Hindu Brahmanism. It is very important for every Myanmar Buddhist people to recognize the day of their birth, such as Sunday, Monday, Tuesday etc. Otherwise, he or she may not know which part of pagoda platform to go and make special devotional acts either his or her desire or by the advice of Astrologer.

It's hard to get back into Flickr after you've been away for awhile. Where do you even start?
I guess I'll start here, with a collection of religious items that my mother was putting together to be given away. They're not all hers; I'm not sure where they all came from, but she's has always been doing something like this. I remember when i was younger, she was in charge of the "stamp booth" at our Church bazaar. Yes, I said stamp booth. Kind of a strange thing to do, but it was most likely one of the finest collections ever at a Church bazaar. I don't even know how it started, but I remember spending many an afternoon soaking stamps to release them from envelopes.
Swiveling seats in a 1959 De Soto. It's the smart way to go places! No crotch shots taken of this lady!

I used to greet ‘HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY’.
But after all these years..
I now realized it’s better to greet ‘GOD BLESS OUR MOTHERS!’
Then we’ll all be Happy, very very HAPPY. :)

My daughter loves pigs and collects anything related to them. So I had to get this little sign for her when I saw it at a garage sale last weekend. I noticed that this came from Hallmark Cards in 1982.
The local priest takes a strong turn at the front and gives these Atala cyclists a wee break during their training run in preparation for the 1959 Giro d'Italia stage race. Taking part in the fun are Monti, Bormioli and Favero. That was the days of the plus-two cycling trousers and long patterned wool stockings.
