Ninna-ji is the head temple of the Omuro school of the Shingon Sect of Buddhism. Located in western Kyoto, Japan, it was founded in AD 888 by the retired Emperor Uda. It is part of the "Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto", a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Ninna-ji was founded in the early Heian period. In 886, Emperor Kōkō ordered the construction of the Nishiyama Goganji Temple to bless the nation and propagate Buddhist teachings, but he did not live to see its completion. Emperor Uda saw the construction to its completion in 888 and named it "Ninna" after the regnal year of the late Emperor Kōkō's reign. From 888 to 1869 it was traditional for reigning Emperors to send a son to the temple to take over as head priest when a vacancy arose.
After retiring from his throne, Emperor Uda became the first Monzeki, or aristocratic priest, of Ninna-ji. From then on until the end of the Edo period, the temple saw a succession of head priests of imperial lineage.
In 1467, the temple was destroyed by fire and fighting in the Ōnin War. It was rebuilt roughly 150 year later, thanks to the eldest son of Emperor Go-Yōzei, Kakushin Hosshinnō, who enlisted the help of Tokugawa Iemitsu, the third shogun of the Tokugawa shogunate. The resurrection coincided with the rebuilding of the Imperial Palace in Kyoto and thus received imperial funding.
The tradition of having aristocratic or persons of imperial lineage serve as chief of the temple ended with the 30th Monzeki, Junnin Hosshinnō in the late Edo period.
Most of the surviving buildings date from the 17th century, and include a five-story pagoda and an orchard of dwarf cherry trees. The temple itself features some beautifully painted screen walls, and a beautiful walled garden.

last sunday i was determined ~ if they wanted to go and seemed well enough to go ~ to take lulu and mom to the Saint Francis of Assisi Blessing of the Animals at the big park next to my mom's new abode.
(lulu did want to go.. but did not want to get into the car!.. so i lifted all 79 pounds of her :)
lulu had a very rough time on the way there.. though its only 2 miles drive from our house .. but both mom and lulu were infused with all the good vibes there ~ and both seemed to really blossom from being there **
(mom is amazing .. she's nearly 86 and this was only five days after her mastectomy surgery.)
~ a little bit about our time there ~
brother christopher, a franciscan monk with the kindest eyes i have ever seen, gave lulu her blessing *
(he had come up to us when we got there and said he remembered lulu from last year :)
he and we, plus the minister from unity church, sat in a circle on the grass .. brother christopher's words for lulu were like lightning.. so beautiful, i wept.
~ later, he told me that he felt lulu's energy as being *pure love* radiating outward to everyone .. and he said, "lulu has a very, very powerful spirit".
when i introduced the unity minister (whose name is sky :) to my mother, he said, "frances!.. and today is the celebration of st. francis! .. may i give you a blessing too?" .. and he did, with oils .. he then took a colorful bracelet off his arm, on which was written ~be aloha~ and put it on mom's arm.. :)
mom had the most marvelous time!.. talking to all the people and meeting all the animals. .. indeed, this photo was taken at mom's request with my camera by a woman photographer named robin whom mom met there! thanks to her.
lulu, for most of the time we were there, sat in front of a young man with a guitar & a so-beautiful voice, never taking her eyes off him, listening to him sing .. after one song, he said with a beaming smile, "lulu is my biggest fan!"
our lightbulb also reveled in all the kisses she gave to & received from many animals and people.. :)
i thought of you throughout .. and said blessings for each of your animal children *
know i look really tired here .. but was feeling triumphant too as, despite all that's happened to them, lulu and mom were able to be at this blessing **
(gotta remember next time to untie my ponytail for photos :)

(as soon as i have some more moments, will share updates on them in a comment here.. now that the lab report is back for mom .. and now that lulu has had her ultrascan. .. they are mixed, but we are dealing..)

I spent another day yesterday wondering if I was going to have a stroke. Instead, our beloved Miss Chloe Smith #8 had one. She's alive and sleeping but very disoriented. I'll call the Vet when I get back from the cancer center this morning. Bless her heart. Sweetest most gentlest cat I've ever owned. Right now her middle name is the same as mine, "I'm not dead yet!" Some of the research says that some can survive and even improve, unlike humans. I'm praying for her and that God's will be done.Nancy Smith (5M+ views -- to Him be the glory!)
3:00 PM EST today Feb 1, 2024: Took Miss Chloe to the Vet to be put to sleep this morning. He talked me out of it which was a first. He wanted us to give her one more chance to recover from the strokes and gave her a new Osteoarthritis shot just for cats. Apparently some have extraordinary outcomes. This would hopefully help her crippling and weakness that she had before the strokes and she could get up and eat and use the little boxes, etc. SO as our middle names say: "We're not dead yet!"
Today, the 6th of May, 2023, is a momentous day. Today is the Coronation of His Majesty, King Charles III, and people of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth move into the new Carolean Age.

I have posted two pictures of Millie's girls.
Saffie lived at home with Mum and seems to stay puppyish she always wants lot's of affection and is eager to please so when talking about her you want to say Saffie bless her.
Poppy is a real live wire and with me and her owner very obedient not so much with others often up to mischief and would always make me laugh, She was my perfect running partner.
As you can see two black labs but both very different the only thing that is the same is how much I love them.
Taken on a very Sunny day so not ideal for photography.

Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!
So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️
