Lamprocapnos spectabilis

Clerodendrum thomsoniae, commonly called bleeding heart vine, is a twining evergreen shrub or vine. It usually blooms during the warm months and provides showy white flowers with dark red corollas giving a striking contrast. The foliage is smooth-edged, oval and 6" long. A common houseplant in cooler locations.

Mycena haematopus

Turkey Run Trail

Turkey Run Park

Found this on a rotting beech tree on a trail along the Turkey run. When they are young, if you nick their stalks they will bleed hence the name haematopus.

Can't taste holy water.

Can't find it in a well.

Been doing a lot of thinking,

Thinking about hell.

Thinking about the ozone.

Thinking about lead.

Thinking about the future,

And what to do then.

The words of Woody Guthrie ringing in my head.

Blame it on the system,

Those that came before.

Updated consciousness.

Knocking on doors.

Piecemeal solutions will only leave scars,

Bandages for nosebleeds,

In this city of artificial stars.

[ View On Black ]

As part of the centenary of World War One, the Tower Of London is surrounded by ceramic poppies, all of which will be sold for charity. There will be 888,246 poppies installed, one for each British and Colonial soldier lost during the war.

Each spring my Dicentra plant grows taller, wider and produces more bleeding hearts than the previous year. This is the plant that almost never was. The first year that it was planted someone stood on it before it had even flowered. That year was a disaster but the following year it came back from the dead and this is now the third year (I think) and it shows no sign of fading.

They survived the frost.

A pair of bleeding hearts framed by stems and leaves.

Did you know that it's a member of the poppy family?

The same well photographed flower, this time on black.

Not bleeding today, this Hydnellum peckii probably 'bled' in August.

Truly innocuous when not oozing the spoor-producing 'blood', it is now just a hard, grayish with lump, soon to return to the earth.

This pub was a filming location from the two part London episodes of Death In Paradise.

DI Humphrey Goodman goes here to see Martha after she had left Saint Marie to work back in London. Humphrey decides to move back to London to start a life with her.

This bittersweet ending of his time on Death In Paradise eventually led to the spin off Beyond Paradise, which I have recently watched & enjoyed it a lot.

My Dicentra - or Bleeding Hearts - is in its third year now. The first year it had an accident, someone stood on it and that was that for 2015. Then in 2016 it came up with gutso, and now in April 2017 it's looking beautiful with large amounts of arms hanging with many pink hearts.

Many thanks to all who take the time to view, comment and fave my images. Enjoy the day.

These do not grow every year in the garden for some reason, but when they do appear they are truly beautiful flowers. This is a re-edit of a previously uploaded photo.

A painful love between a beautiful ghost ( or angel ?!) and a man

Love is painful

All the love is painful

But love is beautiful

Same as you ...
