I know it's early to post this, but here's my project for April's Pattern Pact. My baby is due Monday and I wanted to get this on here before she came so that I'd have more motivation to finish it this month. Instead of pretending that I never picked a project in the first place. ha.
It's from Alicia Paulson's book Embroidery Companion. My first project from it.

Brain weasels are harsh masters.
Because I was an idiot and made the collar too short, I'm embroidering up two more panels for each side of the collar, because it has to be symmetrical. The brain weasels require it.
These panels will both be finished in hemstitch. Haven't yet decided whether I'm going to attach them to the main body of the collar with red insertion stitch, yet; I think that may be too busy.

The rushnyk finished and in place with an icon. These are also sometimes fastened/held at the top with a ribbon, or laid flat along the top of the icon. This icon of the Theotokos was hand-written by an iconographer in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
Total work time for this, whole cloth to finished and hanging, was probably about 80 hours.
