I'll be adding a lovely iris border at the bottom done in the same green as above and with the irises in deep purple with gold highlights.
Check out my blog for some poetry talk (the quote is from Carl Sandburg, by far the best poet ever). In the comments to my blog post I've reproduced two of my favorite Sandburg poems (one of the only writers capable of writing truly realistic and accessible love poetry).

Making significant progress on this design. Fairly close to the actual colors, but not exact. Still getting used to this new camera.
All done, still in love with myself over that border.

Narrow borders done at last! Model from "Traditional Blackwork Samplers" by Lesley Wilkins, Search Press
This is a series of experiments with part of a band sampler from Lesley Wilkin's Traditional Blackwork Samplers. Each quarter is different except for the bottom two of the motif on the right. They aren't my style so I won't use them but I still learned a lot.

Assorted filling patterns.
Black silk and gold thread on natural linen; bookmark style site favors for an SCA event
In 2020 I joined a stitching group on Facebook called Peppermint Purple. It was created by a designer in UK named Clare. She has an online shop with the same name where you can buy kits and/or patterns created by her. This is a SAL (stitchalong) in which she shared a part of the design each Wednesday throughout the year. Each stitcher chose fabric and floss colors and border choices.
Yea! Just working on the background now (the make it square).

This is just a photo to show the size of the square, roughly 2.5 inches:) I'm not sure how I'm going to finish this off yet!
Holy Resurrection Antiochian Orthodox Church, May 2012. Silk, Cotton, and gold threads on Belfast linen over 2 x 3 threads. Patterns adapted from "The New Carolingian Modelbook" (blackwork), traditional eastern European cross-stitch designs. Lace original design, worked by my godmother.
Took 2 years to complete the embroidery, and another 2 for the lace. Piece measures 60 inches long by 18 inches wide.
I know it's early to post this, but here's my project for April's Pattern Pact. My baby is due Monday and I wanted to get this on here before she came so that I'd have more motivation to finish it this month. Instead of pretending that I never picked a project in the first place. ha.
It's from Alicia Paulson's book Embroidery Companion. My first project from it.
The current stitch-along blackwork project I'm doing. the pattern can be found here: www.blackworkjourney.co.uk/freebies1.shtml
