The Philippines main island of Luzon today had rotational scheduled 2 hour blackouts due to boiler leaks in two power plants and it is said it will last for 5 days. My room is dark. I have sun shades in all windows to filter out sunlight and heat to enter the room except for one window. The afternoon heat was terrible. I hope the outage will be in the morning tomorrow.

Something like a third of Somerville lost power Friday night, including my street.
I stepped outside to see nothing but darkness, and overheard neighbors' grumbles about missing the last two innings of the Red Sox game fade into amazement that we could actually see the stars! It was great fun to walk around and see my neighborhood without the aid of street lights, but tough to photograph. It required the maximum exposure my camera can do (15 seconds) and at least two or three cars to pass by while exposing, to catch any detail at all.
To see the stars, I recommend viewing it larger.

During the Second World War in Britain, Air Raid Precautions (ARP) Wardens played a crucial role in protecting civilians during air raids. They were responsible for enforcing blackout regulations, providing first aid, and guiding people to safety. In the aftermath of air raids, they helped extinguish fires caused by incendiary bombs and provided medical assistance to the injured.
First try at blackout poetry. Ever since I saw a group about this I have wanted to try it. It's actually really fun, even if I've never really been into poetry. Maybe I'll do some more.

Prussian forces have secured the outskirts of Paris, and are now within striking distance. The men are noe setting up a perimeter around the city to cut off its supply lines, meaning nothing goes into the city, and nothing gets out either. With the setup almost complete, the City of Lights wiill face a major blackout, and the Prussians will be given a major advantage over their French enemy. Paratrooper units are also assisting in setting up the perimeter, along side performing reconnaissance missions inside of the city. The units have reported heavy French defenses waiting for the Prussians inside of the city, but "nothing we can't handle" as said by one of the troops.
Crap pic is crap, but hey, it's a post. For LMG, first try at forced perspective, hope you like! C&C welcome.

Inspired by the anti-SOPA/PIPA protests on the internet. The impact those bills could have made on internet freedom and creativity would have been devastating to say the least. And it looks like the protest has been successful...for now.
Lydia and I were walking across Hungerford Bridge to find a good location to watch Earth Hour from. As we were crossing over the River Thames, I loved how these blue light looked leading into East London. I attached my little tripod to the handrail and got three exposures for this HDR photo. My work (the building on the left) had already starting shutting some of it's lights down in preparation for the blackout.
Meanwhile, central London was burning. I guess if you have to turn the lights off, you need illumination from somewhere...
Probably best viewed on black. (Press L)
Edit:
I now have a Facebook page if you're down with the kids.

“But who can remember pain, once it’s over? All that remains of it is a shadow, not in the mind even, in the flesh. Pain marks you, but too deep to see. Out of sight, out of mind.”

The World Trade Center stands out against a blackened New York City skyline after a power failure struck the city, July 14, 1977. Lightning striking a power station is blamed for the blackout.
First blackout attempt...
But she had great strength.
Yes, she shackles a free spirit,
free spirit surely.
I remember the body,
surprised and shocked
of something seen before
to give service to
the canvas-shrouded weight.
