We got our power back yesterday afternoon!

Clapham South deep level air raid shelter.

Construction works damaged the supply cables for the 15 kV catenary at the Hungarian borderstation of Hegyeshalom. So the catenary at the section to the Austrian border was dead for nearly 3 days, which resulted in a freight train jam and more chaos than the usual chaos ...

At least in 4 hours only two freight trains left the yard with alternative helper traction of a ÖBB "Hercules" diesel class 2016 double unit. Anyway, I love those wonderful museum switch lanterns and the neat atmosphere at this busy, archaic yard ! And if the wires are dead, we keep on moving with a "Hercules" Powerpack ... : )

A wordless Blackout Tuesday

We are all children of the same world, in all our colors and cultures, mindsets and ideas, our dreams and our ways to live our lives. After all, let it be our common objective to act in a human way, to respect each other and to listen to our mind as well as to our heart.

Strobist info: Darkfield backlighting for glass. Triggered with PW's. Whitecard to bounce some light on threaded cap, which was gobo'd as not to spill on glass. My boyfriend was kind enough to make me a resistor so that the tungsten would not add to the exposure.

Sopravviventi istanti

strappano la pelle.

Tremore domito

distrae i muscoli.

Sorrido.

Muoio.

Guardo la luce

non capisco.

Cosa significhi quel bagliore.

Non interpreto segni.

Non ne voglio ancora.

Il destino è un sasso piatto sull'acqua.

Non importa quanto potrai rimbalzare,resistere.

Sai dove andrai a finire.

Dove,come e quando.Non importa.

Comments Welcome

Thanks to whosoever produced this poster. During Flickr Blackout I'll be over on ipernity - don't want to get withdrawal symptoms!!!

IF YOU TOO ARE PROTESTING, I SUGGEST YOU POST YOUR IMAGE ON MAINSTREAM GROUPS SUCH AS FLICKRITIS; ONE A DAY; SCREAM OF THE PHOTOGRAPHER ETC..

This is why flickr beta is rubbish for my way of posting over the last 7 years.

#1 The tiny right hand side bar massively discourages anything other than very short comments. My contacts and myself have regularly indulged in lengthy comments and discussions because we LIKE to discuss and debate.

#2 The use of discussion and narrative is further discouraged by only showing the most recent couple of comments, unless you make that extra click.

#3 There have been many times when posting subsidiary photos has helped explain the context of the main photo post e.g. wildlife photos from a different angle. Although it is still possible to do this, they can only be shown at a tiny size in the right hand side bar. The extra click that takes a viewer to a larger size then means you can only see one image at a time, rather than being able to compare and contrast several images to build an overall impression of what the post is about.

#4 Tags now have to be manually entered. What a pain! flickr photos are a hugely useful resource for help in identification of wildlife. Will users now go to the trouble of adding dozens of tags? I doubt it.

#5 The change in the geotag system now makes it harder to instantly see where in the world a photo was taken.

I could go on, but above are FIVE things that are far worse for me under the new flickr beta system.

I've lost so many contacts who have given up on flickr due to the incessant changes. What do I want? I want the CHOICE to go back to the old system, which I am temporarily using via the Spanish language flickr version.

Nearly fully boarded farmhouse with a fantastic hilltop view from the second floor sun room, if you can make it that far in the pitch black first floor. A good flashlight helps!

I went to one of the darkest areas of New Jersey. As many of you know, NJ has a ton of light pollution, so most areas are not ideal for astrophotographers. This night was different. It was a new moon, and a severe thunderstorm rolled though. It knocked out power lines in this tiny bayside town. I doubt that I will ever get a chance to see such skies again.

This is a single shot with a 20 second shutter.

I debated to geo tag this photo. I ended up tagging this on flickr, only because I feel that the photographers here are more responsible, and will respect the people and nature in the area.

Alles aus - button

ignore the fact i posted before this - didnt see it was a thing at that point XD

Partially in reference to the SOPA/PIPA legislation that could have a terrible impact on how we interact with each and access/share our lives through the internet and partially inspired by the splitting headache that I've had since noon. At about 2:30 this afternoon I felt like blackness was the only thing that could take away the pain from inside my head. Hate those kinds of headaches!

My bathroom sink looks like an oil spill.
