I think this is a domestic Call Duck. Its been swimming around with the Mallards for some months now at Crombie Reservoir. The far (shallow) end of the reservoir was frozen, so this brought everything closer to the path at the near end, for photo opportunities.
A bit crazy with a knack for being able to sustain a conversation with anyone. We've been close friends since we were 12 and clicked instantly. I find her laugh totally contagious because it's a little maniacal. Danielle is one of the few people I can talk to like no time has passed.

After a bit of a flog through the marshy bottoms the ascent of Kepple Crag is a lot easier than it looks from the approach and once on firm ground the top becomes an easy prize. This summit marks the most northerly point on this round of fells from here I'll be homeward bound taking in the final two tops of Broad and Great Crags.
It was very very dark over there. Bit chilly too.
We were in Nieuwe Statenzijl, Groningen, at the big Dollard waters of the Waddenzee, where they had a memorial service with music and a light show, to commemorate the events of 500 years ago, when a big storm flooded at least 30 villages in this area and killed all humans and animals. Most villages disappeared forever. It is called the 2nd 'Cosmas and Damianus Flood'. It was the biggest disaster ever to hit Groningen province.
It was interesting. Big crowd. Many strange smells and sounds. Didn't miss a thing!
