Elizabeth grew up in the countryside of Peru, grazing alpaca and loving to knit.

All she wanted in life was to attend school. But like so many in her community, Elizabeth was prohibited by her parents from further education. “Boys are students,” she was told. “Girls take care of livestock.”

In marriage she found the pattern repeating itself. Her husband went off to study, leaving Elizabeth alone and impoverished, struggling to take care of their young son.

With the help of Heifer, Elizabeth organized other mothers and formed a handicraft association to sell their knitting wares at the local market. The money helps support her family.

Bit by Bit is the story of a woman unwilling to be marginalized.

“There is no strength alone,” she says. “When many of us come together, then there is strength.”

And Elizabeth is staying true to her word, teaching her trade to the young girls of her community.

There is so much symmetry in nature, yet it is always sprinkled with a bit of asymmetry. The combination which is probably aligned with the golden ratio of 1.618 (just a guess though) makes everything in nature so aesthetically appealing and wonderful to experience with the visual and also the somatosensory components and systems divinely bestowed to our biological manifestations in reality.

A small selection of our collection of sturmey archer bits and bobs ...

Today the Hereios of the We’re Here! Group are visiting Tributes to the Famous. It's fortunate that my wife is doing a jigsaw puzzle featuring a certain Mexican artist.

New doll bits drying in the sun! Note to self...stand down wind of spray can! My glasses are now covered with yellow spots!

This is auto It dries hard, fills in the dents, is then sanded and sprayed with auto enamel which dries rock hard and stops the doll dissolving when I make the mould!

Lassie & a little girl were both playing with this ball at a recent family gathering. She had a blast playing keep away with the dog. Lassie would chase her to get the ball and she would giggle and run. I was lucky to catch this, it happened so fast. It was real bright and I had to tone down the shadow some to see her expression, so I have done some photo shop work on this one. I usually like to keep my photos as photo shop free as possible, but this one was too cute to pass up. Taken July 2008

Learn to Use Weightlifting Wrist Straps for Heavy Weights

via Tumblr bit.ly/16N0hbu Learn to Use Weightlifting Wrist Straps for Heavy Weights: Learn to Use Weightlifting Wrist Straps for Heavy Weights Learn to Use Weightlifting Wrist Straps for Heavy Weights Weightlifting wrist straps by riptoned.com - Discover the best ways to correctly use lifting straps from Kevin Weiss of Body Performance personal fitness training Hello thereKevin Weiss from Body Performance personal fitness training, in the last 30 years of being a competitive bodybuilder both on the national and world stage as well as being a.competitive powerlifter I have actually learned a thing or 2 about what works and what doesn’t.The last thing you want when you’re dealing with a heavy weight whether it’s with deadlifts, rows, pull-ups, pull-downs or any other thing like that where your grip may become a factor is your grip to slip on you so today I am going to tell you about something I have actually made use of for many years and a fantastic weightlifting product that actually is going to help you in reaching your goals.So the product I want to share with you is the Rip Toned weightlifting padded wrist straps and I just want to offer you a very quick tutorial of the steps to correctly use these lifting workout straps.1. The 1st step that you’re going to do is you’re going to find the loop on the end of the lifting straps.2. Slide the other end through the loop.3. Then move the weightlifting strap onto your hand so the other end is hanging down your palm, you don’t want it this way over top. As well you don’t want it to be up on your wrist cause that’s not going to support everything down onto your hand.4. Tighten it up like this … and that’s ready to go.5. Now I will show you how to wrap the strap around the bar to get the tightest grip possible.6. So your starting position for this step is close to the bar with your wrist strap going underneath, don’t go overtop like this you’ll still have the ability to wrap it around like that but you’re.not going to get a tight grip this way.7. Put it underneath the same way your thumb would go underneath, you can push the lifting strap end underneath then get it on the back side with your fingers like this and pull it until it is tight.8. Now that you have it like this it’s an easy exercise of just flipping it over multiple times… if you really want to keep it tight what works great is that you do similar to a motorcycle grip or a motorcycle throttle twist it … bring it … pull it … twist it … you’re good to go.9. Then you just simply duplicate that with your other hand.Easy as that … now using Rip Toned padded weightlifting straps I have a good grip that’s not going to slip out of my hands at any point in time.All right so that’s all there is to it … real easy product and it will make a big difference in any workouts where your grip is going to be an issue.I’m Kevin Weiss from Body Performance online coaching have an excellent day.Click the link below for more information on RipToned weightlifting wrist straps for both men and women bodybuilders and powerlifters.http://bit.ly/1a7Brbs. via Blogger bit.ly/17rB0U4 via Tumblr bit.ly/1eLT7qw

The Moon, getting a bit closer.

"Scots, wha hae wi’ Wallace bled,

Scots, wham Bruce has aften led,

Welcome to your gory bed,

Or to Victorie!

Now’s the day, and now’s the hour;

See the front o’ battle lour;

See approach proud Edward's power—

Chains and Slaverie!

Wha will be a traitor knave?

Wha can fill a coward’s grave?

Wha sae base as be a Slave?

Let him turn and flee!

Wha, for Scotland’s King and Law,

Freedom’s sword will strongly draw,

Free-man stand, or Free-man fa’,

Let him on wi’ me!"

This is a playscape that we made for the Bits of Goodness swap for a lovely family in Canada. This was a mother-daughter project, designed by daughter. The ground was sewn with wool felt and recycled fabric from clothing. The grasses were crocheted and latch-hooked wool yarn. Bushes were wool yarn pompons that we wrapped. The pool/stream was crocheted from cotton yarn that we dyed with indigo. The flowers are crocheted yarns. We enjoyed making this playscape!

These pictures were taken before we mailed it. This one features wood farm animals.
