On her 20th birthday, I borrowed her Canon and took this picture of her and her cat.

The Speed river that goes through Riverside Park in Guelph, ON always makes for good pictures no matter the weather.
I've taken hundreds of the same photo over this bridge.
This is for a winter scene project :)

In spite of orthodontic treatment as a teenager my teeth are very uneven and have been a source of difficulty and embarrassment much of my life. I have a huge overbite so my lower and upper teeth don't meet. Instead my lower front teeth bite on my soft palate which gets sore from time to time. My dentist keeps patching me up and tells me that having natural teeth, even like mine, is better than the alternatives. Ho hum…
SFX make-up artist Mitchell demonstrates that sometimes he goes old-school to make realistic wounds. Steph, right.

Rhipicephalus Sanguineus (Brown Dog Tick)
Location - Brisbane Australia
Pictured here is a young Rhipicephalus, or possibly a small adult male... But Im leaning more towards nymph seeing as he was only 2mm (And barely)
I was planning on letting him gorge, and taking progress shots ! But, alas, ticks are slow feeding creatures that can go un-noticed for days or weeks, taking up to 10 days to become fully engorged.
And once noticed, they are quite noticeable !
(Think when you watch a mosquito bite compared to when they sneak one)
Itchiness and a dull pain where the only symptoms i felt, and im not sure how much of it was my own mind's making !
Nevertheless, my experiment plans where thwarted when my partner noticed the little parasite, and quickly and skillfully removed him whilst 'taking a look' !
This is Hoodoo. He belongs to the same friends that own Sunshine. I was photographing their two dogs on a black background. I hadn't planned on photographing their cat. But, Hoodoo decided to be a good sport and sat on the set, so I thought these black on black photos would be a bit of fun. I know you don't see a lot of fur detail, but I wanted to do something to emphasize his eyes.
And here's a true confession... I am terrified of house cats. It's not that I dislike cats -- I think they are beautiful animals. I'm just scared of them like other people are scared of snakes or spiders. I know, I know... it's silly and stupid to be scared of cats.
After I get to know a cat and am sure he's not a pouncer, biter, scratcher - we can absolutely be friends. It just takes me a little extra time to warm up to a cat. Whereas, I'm instant buddies with most every dog I meet.
Vacation aftermath: chigger bites on Xy's back. She had over fifty bites. I had something like 15, mostly on my ankles. Thanks, Indiana!
Update: As of August 2009 this is my most viewed photo. Later that month, this became my first photo to have scored more than 10,000 views.
Update: Since this photo gets so much traffic, I can only assume folks might be interested in the hot water treatment. It works for poison ivy, fire ant stings and — yes chigger bites.
Something crawled into bed with me last night and gave me a souvenir.
This is the first time I have ever gotten a blister from a bug bite. It doesn't itch that much. I just hope it doesn't get bigger or scar.
Freaking Korean bugs...
