This juvenile Tricolored Heron has been foraging close to the nest where it was born, discovering the world around him and marveling at his own reflection.

We have some very enthusiastic birdwatchers staying for a month! My sister in law's 2 Burmese cats seem to be astounded that we have birds. Sadly for them, they will never get to taste the objects of their fascination - locked inside 24/7. Great fun to watch though and I think the birds know they're safe.

I am not completely sure this Hoodie ever managed to swallow it's fish. Perhaps he bit offf more than he could chew?
When I see a potential reflection, I wait until I get the bird in position for the shot as I did with this Sora Rail at Green Cay. And when I see a bird or animal with a reflection, you can bet I'll snap a picture of it.

This Pileated Woodpecker looks out of the tree hole wondering when her mate will show up. It seems like she's been working in her home the way she's got her hair bundled up.
