Imperial Eagle (Aquilla heliaca) in flight
Very large; dark-brown body contrasts with pale head and nape. Similar to Golden Eagle but with a shorter tail and white shoulders that can be hard to spot. The underwings are dark with low contrast. Juveniles are strikingly different, sandy brown above with white streaks and a pale rump contrasting with dark tail and dark wingtips. Uncommon, breeding in forested areas intermixed with steppes and agricultural areas, where often seen perched on pylons.

Steppe Eagle (Aquila Nepalensis)
A large eagle with rich brown plumage, wide wings, and seven well-splayed “fingers” at the wingtip. Adults are entirely dark brown; juveniles and immatures at rest show a distinctive wide white band bordered with black on the wing. In flight, this transforms into a white traverse band on the underwing that forms the base of the primary and secondary feathers. Birds take about four years to attain adult plumage. Frequents open grasslands, deserts, scrub, wetlands, and mountains, and is a regular carcass feeder along with vultures.

The spotted nutcracker or Eurasian nutcracker, is a passerine bird slightly larger than the Eurasian jay. It has a much larger bill and a slimmer looking head without any crest. The feathering over its body is predominantly chocolate brown with distinct white spots and streaks.

Some orange Birds of Paradise flowers, also known as Crane Flowers, or Strelitzia, catch the orange rays from the setting sun over the Pacific Ocean in this view from Santa Monica back in February. This time of year I miss the sun setting directly over the infinite horizon of the largest of oceans, as the Earth’s tilt has swung the setting sun far to the right of where it is in this photo to behind the Santa Monica Mountains. On this day however it is just a few minutes away from disappearing from view as it puts on the end of day light show lighting up dispersing stormy clouds and reflecting off of the water. I’ve not been out photographing much lately instead confined to life’s other obligations but I hope to venture out soon or at least take some local photos like this one. Stay tuned.

I found this peacock at the botanical gardens of Belen in Lisbon, Portugal.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to get it to spread it's feathers and do its mating dance for us. Luckily another bird a couple of days later gave us a private show though.

Brahmani Starling
(Sturnia pagodarum)
A small fawn-colored starling with a long wispy crest that usually lies limp over the back of its head, but the feathers on its cheek and upper breast stand up and away from its cheek. Its upperparts are gray and the dark tail is tipped in white. Note the yellow bill with a blue base. Often seen in small family groups, feeding on fruits and nectar as well as insects on the ground or in the trees. They have a wide repertoire of calls and are also given to mimicking other species.(EBird)
