Black-necked Weaver (Black-necked), Ploceus nigricollis nigricollis, 14 cm / 5.5 in. Widespread, but never numerous. Variety of habitat including woodland and thick bush.

African Gray Hornbill, Lopoceros nasutus epirhinus, 51 cm / 20 in. COMMON and widespread residents in woodland and bushed or wooded grassland. Starting with their head in a "classic" position, they open their bill wide and throw the head up and back while calling.

Klaas's Cuckoo, Chrysococcyx klaas, 18cm. / 7in. COMMON and widespread resident in moister and often dense woodlands, forest edges, bush habitats and gardens.

Double-toothed Barbet, Pogonornis bidentatus aequatorialis, 23cm. / 9in. Widespread and COMMON in a range of woodland, wooded grassland, gardens and cultivation. The "teeth" are evident on the side of the bill.

Male Kori Bustard, Ardeotis kori struthiunculus, 128 cm / 50 in. NEAR THREATENED. Locally COMMON and widespread in open grassland of protected areas. Numbers are declining due to habitat loss and human disturbances.

The striated heron (Butorides striata) also known as mangrove heron, little heron or green-backed heron, is a small heron, about 44 cm tall. Striated herons are mostly non-migratory and noted for some interesting behavioral traits. Their breeding habitat is small wetlands in the Old World tropics from west Africa to Japan and Australia, and in South America.
