Common in Kimberley across to northern parts of Northern Territory and Gulf Country. East coast of Far North Queensland, south of Cape York.
They are found near Mixed Eucalyptus woodlands, with understorey of pandanus and tall grass. Always near water, wetlands or river courses.

A beautiful parrot, the moustached parakeet is named for its distinctive feathers above the beak that looks like a well-groomed mustache.

Tawny Owls (Strix aluco) are a resident, sedentary and highly territorial breeding species in the UK. They are responsible for the most commonly heard owl sound, the classic, nocturnal ‘twit twoo’ call, with which most people are familiar. Tawny Owls are primarily a woodland species, but have adapted to live almost anywhere there are trees, including city parks, wooded urban and suburban gardens, farmland hedgerows and copses, as well as more extensive areas of woodland and forestry.

Like many we have a bird feeder at home but this took our love for birds to a whole new level. I never imagined Wood Peckers would gently land on our hands, take time to pick through the seeds, and look in our eyes, almost as though to thank us... Wow. What an experience to be so close and feel them in our hands. They made us smile.
We fed only wild bird seed... They love sunflower seeds!
