The Shell Seeker....

Sanderlings can also be found on the Baltic Sea all winter long. However, in autumn I found a lot of them on the beach this year.

Sanderlinge trifft man an der Ostsee auch den ganzen Winter über an. Jetzt im Herbst habe ich allerdings in diesem Jahr sehr viele am Strand vorgefunden.

This was a robin that I captured on a rainy December afternoon. I tempted it into shot by putting some extra bird seed on the fence and fence post. Using the 300mm lens allowed me to get a really nice depth of field effect.

The little vole did not stand a chance. This Northern Hawk Owl dropped from the tree and hit the ground so fast, I was lucky to press the shutter as soon as I saw movement.

I managed to capture this stunning moment as a "Heron" stood tall among the reeds, its golden eye fixed in perfact focus. The details in its feathers and the sharpness of its beak, show the quiet strenght and elegance of this increadible hunter. Natures beauty never ceases to amaze.

These guys show up in very low numbers on the shores of Lake Erie during migration, and always a treat to find.

Picture Day for this Handsome Eagle

There were up to 5 eagles all on this same branch. Lucky to have a clear background when isolating this one eagle. Love the stare down the barrel of the lens. I wonder what he is thinking?

Unique tiny woodpecker with olive-yellow wings, brown-and-white striped head, and black-spotted white breast and belly. Other piculets in range look very different, being mostly unmarked. Call is an extremely high “tsik tsik tsik.” Drums very loudly for such a diminutive bird. Widespread, found in lowland and foothill forests, often in areas with bamboo stands.
