Due to a lack of rain lately some of the local ponds are drying up, but these birds seem to be enjoying it.

A falcon. Maybe a beluga whale.... Anyway... this is a wild bird, really. Came flying by at the Vancouver Aquarium.

Every morning, the birds and squirrels compete for their daily bread. The clever crows get the most because they grab as much as their beaks can hold, fly off with it and then return for more.

Taken on Lee Road on the way into Lox NWR.

Sadly the Canadian release for these do not have the sound chip that makes the bird tweets. :(

Scaled Quail are game birds found in the New World, which have became rather rare due to habitat destruction and hunting.

This isn't the quail *I* grew up with...but a Texas variety.
