i forgot the name of this pure white bird, spotted while i'm on my way to pick-up my son from his prep school.

Birds was this weeks theme and I found it much harder than I thought I would...lots of birds just not where I could take pictures of them !
Anyway,snapped this American goldfinch sunning himself on the wall of someone's garden while out for a walk this past weekend.
At home with my father this weekend. He is mad about feeding the birds. There is a miriad of these and other colourful birds hanging out looking for more nuts from his feeders... The bark on the tree is removed from the birds landing. makes it easy for me to identify the perch.

Today I went to the zoo together with my brother.
One of the last cages we passed serves as home for the sea eagles. It seems that one of the eagles waked up on the wrong side of the bed.
His angry look and the low sun result in an cool shot if you ask me. I only needed to level up the shadows a bit to make the bird brighter.
Hard to get a good sharp picture through two or three layers of glass. This bird lives in the area and we see it often. I had miss identified this as a Sharp Shinned hawk.....

While taking a walk around the Back Bay in Costa Mesa Saturday afternoon I had to stop to photograph this Bird of Paradise. The back light was gorgeous, and this one was still looking pretty good. The neighborhoods down there are full of these just now. This must be their season.

I believe this is the Gambel's subspecies of White-crowned Sparrow with an orange bill and gray lores. Considered rare in the east, and in eBird. Mount Pleasant - Howard Conservancy, Howard County, Maryland.
