Spent a great morning in the blind at Battiste Bed, Breakfast and Birds in Hereford, AZ, with Ned Harris. The weather was perfect. Although we were just slightly early in the season, we still had two species of Orioles and a good sampling of new arrivals and resident birds.

This bird gets its name because its beak resembles a clog (a Dutch shoe).
It feeds on fish and uses a "standing and wait" approach. The bird breeds in the dry spells and builds its nest that is constructed on a floating platform of vegetation, surrounded by water. This species is in decline due to habitat destruction; hunting; disturbance and illegal trade.
Found in Sudan and Ethiopia to Zaire and Zambia.

I recently snapped this Red-tailed hawk who was doing a typical fly-pass over an open field. On cropping the picture I noticed that he was carrying something in his beak… looks more like a bird than a rodent.
The wacky bean at Millennium Park. Great look at the buildings at the north end of the park. I hope the bird on top (see larger versions) isn't trying too hard to hatch it!
You'll be pleased to know, I didn't steal a birds nest, I made it. The quail eggs came from the supermarket.
