I looked up- they were coming-pointed my lens-grabbed the shot
reminds me of Hitchcock
Im not keen on birds especially en masse after being frightened as a small child in Grandpa's racing pigeon loft ha h a
Watch out and do not come into the sight of these eyes. I am still flashed from today. Brilliant birds of prey presented so close. In between it is important to put the camera aside and photograph only with your own eyes. A day I will not forget.
At long last, I finally got a shot of an eastbound BNSF train about to go under the wood bridge Im standing on (see next shot). I took the bridge shot a couple years ago while waiting for a train but one never showed up. But this time around, I actually saw two!! Love the big country view from up here, too!!
I think the birds in the foreground play some sort of game by waiting until the very last second to get off the tracks. Silly birds!
~ Location is between Chadwick and Milledgeville, IL.
I created this image from birds that regularly visit or permanently reside in Ottawa-Gatineau. Of course, there are many more varieties that can be found here, but I pictured these favourites of mine together in a single tree. (In this particular case, it's nine birds in an oak tree. Sounds like a Christmas carole doesn't it?) This image was created on my iPad Pro in an app called Procreate over a long period of time. I would work on it during short coffee breaks and other moments when I had more serious blocks of time available. Procreate tells me that I took over 23 hours to 'paint' it. Bah! There must be something wrong with the app because it didn't feel like much of a burden. My idea in creating this image was to have each bird placed so that it could exist as a separate painting. Maybe someday I'll take this notion forward and create a larger oil painting or nine paintings (my iPad tells me that this one is about 26 x 26 cm or 10 x 10 inches in physical width and height). It was great fun to create this image.
Tempers flare at nature’s trough as many birds vie for prime positions when food becomes available. A female Passerini’s Tanager barks fiercely at a Palm Tanager, warning it to stave off and wait its turn. These skirmishes are short lived and the birds rapidly give way to the next in line after gobbling up a few bites of the plentiful plantains. The delicate but closest living relatives of dinosaurs still possess attitudes that I imagine were plentiful in millennia past, and angry birds are the dinosaurs of the modern day. #AngryBirds
Here we have a neighbour's cat who pops in from time to time who loves our rather nature oriented garden - in the last few day's he has had a blue tit , a moth and nearly a toad which I managed to rescue and released on Bodmin Moor . No not the real Bodmin Moor but the water catchment area up the road as seen on a couple of shots back on my photostream .
Well back to this 'ere twitcher eying up a pigeon on the bird table , well Mr.PussyCat seems to use our house as a bird hide before charging out on his next mission - the neighbours have said between him here and his sister there is usually a trophy/present on their carpet most every other day !!
The shot is not best quality , tricky lighting set up and only a moment to get the shot ( the first one was appalling ! ) .
I'm so sleepy... This very young Blue Jay was taking naps in between trips by it parents bringing food.
White-breasted Nuthatches are gray-blue on the back, with a frosty white face and underparts. The black or gray cap and neck frame the face and make it look like this bird is wearing a hood. The lower belly and under the tail are often chestnut.
All images & textures are my own .
