Week 50/52 : Think BIG

Think Different. + Big Mac. = Think BIG Mac.

DeVou Park in Covington, Kentucky, has one of the best views of downtown Cincinnati, the Ohio River, and Northern Kentucky. Travis enjoyed the cool breeze while watching helicopters fly over the city.

Travis started life in Great Wilbraham, near Cambridge, UK. After enduring the 100 Possibilities Project, he decided to spread his wings, leaving his Cambridgeshire Village and family behind, and ventured into the big world. Photos from Travis' World Tour and his visit to Cincinnati are posted on flickr.

This BNSF Big Mac was sitting in the Shelby, MT yard with a string of covered hoppers. It was powered down and it never moved the entire time I was in Shelby. I have no idea what was going on.

This was only the third or fourth time I've seen a Big Mac in Great Falls and the other times were all during bad weather and I couldn't shoot them. I barely got there in time to get this one as 9416 and a Dash 9 were running down to the west end of the yard to pick up their westbound train. I just got to the end of the public road and jumped out in time to snap a few quick shots of the two of them.

The forecasted white Christmas turned out only to be a cold Christmas. After a relaxing Christmas day spent calling home and enjoying mimosas, a short walk verified the truth; -7 Celsius is cold. What better way to finish off a cold Christmas indoors than to try out the McDonald's delivery service?

On November 8, 2008 Dad caught CSX AC60CW 627 and SD70MAC 4524 (ex-CSX 724) with a northbound slow freight at Addison, TN.

She got pretty excited about Big Mac.

Doesn't he look like he should have an earpiece and be whispering into his collar? "Camera lady spotted in car at 20 yards. Repeat. Camera lady...."

¿Tienen en este mcdonalds un excedente de lechuga? Es que me han metido medio kilo en la hamburguesa, que por cierto, estaba fria. Una hamburguesa del Mcdonalds, por definición, es mala, pero fria... es asquerosa

¿Have the folks at this mcdonalds a lettuce surplus? They added me a pound in my hamburguer. On the other hand, the hamburguer was dead cold. A mcdonalds hamburguer is bad by definition, but cold... is disgusting

What keeps me going in Japan sometimes. This one happens to be the Big Mac McNugget set. Do they have that in the states? One nice thing about Japanese McDonalds is that they actually assemble the burgers with something borderlining on love and care. It's not just thrown together.

A tall and juicy Big Mac!

I found a westbound unit coal train sitting in the hole - sans crew - in Logan, MT on March 5, 2008. This was one of eight trains I saw sitting in sidings between Helena and Livingston, MT on this day, waiting for crews to clear a derailment five miles west of Helena, MT.

On point is ES44AC 6100 and Big Mac 9889. There was another 70MAC as a pusher on the end, but I had nowhere to pull over to get a shot of it.

The Daniel Carter Beard Bridge between downtown Cincinnati OH and Newport KY. Nicknamed the Big Mac Bridge or McDonald's Bridge for the double yellow arches. This was taken underneath it at Sawyer Point in Cincinnati on the Ohio River.

The northbound M-LAUSHE is tied down at North Siding Switch White Bear, Montana (just south of Great Falls), waiting for the Great Falls switch crew to come bring it on in to the yard. With three AC units on the front, another power shuffle is taking place. Power is SD70MACs 8813 & 9593 (ex-BN 9593), AC4400CW 5623 and Dash 9-44CWs 4397 & 4796.
